There are more than enough reasons to hate City but it seems that this is just our own decision to not renew her after her return from ACL. It's not like she was tapped up and refused to engage in renewal talks to force a free transfer to City.

Got it - I thought that was just the club's attempt at saving face. Doesn't really make much sense to let go such a proven star at the age of 27 for nothing, even after an ACL injury? I remember some rumours a couple of years ago as well that she was leaving and that Nikita Parris was supposed to be her replacement. So maybe this has been brewing for a while for some other unrelated reason.

I don't really understand it, other than having watched the documentary about her Beth Mead's recovery from their ACLs and it seems that whilst Beth has come back ready to go, maybe Viv hasn't and that's played into this decision. But it just seems odd that you have this brilliant footballer and come up with a style of play she is effectively redundant in. And the ends very much don't seem to be justifying the means either cos whenever I have watched the ladies this season, they haven't been good.

Don't really watch women's football but from those on my twitter timeline who do, I see a lot of complaints about the current coach. Many seemed surprised we gave him a new contract.

Good luck Vivianne. Arguably one of the greatest women strikers ever, and She gave us her best years. Shame about the ACL, we would probably have worked harder to keep her if not for that. Let her go earn and retire in peace.

I don't know if it's cos the women's team are so bad right now or the men's game is so tense, but it's been missed that the ladies lost a Euro qualifier yet again... Albeit with a chance to make amends on the return leg.

I think we all a bit sick of Jonas. They have been so profligate under him and the ACLs haven't helped.

Season opener tomorrow at the Emirates against Man City. Let's see if they can get off to a good start. Odds on Miedema scoring?
