Huge challenge for the ladies as they travel to Barcelona for their champions league group stage opener.
Barca are firmly the favorites. They are pretty much the female equivalent of Guardiola's 2009-11 side.
We would be lucky to get anything out of the game.
The match will live for free worldwide on the DAZN youtube channel.
this is what i find strange about barca women. well their la liga games aren't on tv so it's hard to see them outside of the champions league, but spain's women's national team isn't great and they are made up mostly of spanish players. the male 2009-11 equivalent had world class players all over the field and spain was great. lyon women i understand.
tactically they must really be on point.
In a simplistic point fo view - Barca have what majority of their competitors lack - a genuinely world class midfield.
From my limited understanding / viewing of womens football, most of the elite teams in Europe are very top heavy with most of the quality loaded in strikers and wingers.
However they are often supplemented with serviceable midfielders with maybe one very good player.
Barca just kill you in the middle of the park as they showed with Chelsea in last years CL final where Chelsea's much hyped front line barely touched the ball.
