This kid is going to be huge. he's been compared with Falcao and it's easy to see why. Pace technique strength and a killer in front of goal, scores every type bicycle kicks lobs with either foot headers etc, his first today was absurd

Best of all he's in the second year of his two year loan from Benfica and his option to buy is just €12m

That was some technique

That is some next level Ibrahimovic class ridiculousness. Who the hell finishes like that?

What's the point of Dusseldorf seriously? Getting thrashed every week for fun

Quite the game from Alcacer just now, got subbed on at 60 minutes and scores a fucking hat trick, the last goal coming from a free kick with the last kick of the game at 90+6 to make the score 4-3. That's some Captain Tsubasa shit ffs

He's now at 6 league goals in 80 minutes of game time 😆 good to see him regain his form, was a big fan and wanted us to sign him from Valencia couple years back. Shame he's doing it at Dortmund but if it wins them the title ahead of Bayern I won't mind

He's also earned a recall to the national team.
I think we were interested when he was at Valencia but then Barca made their move.
Surprised to see he's only 25 - thought he was older.

Does that only apply to Frankfurt?
If so does he have a release clause from Benfica?

Yes it's a clause in the loan contract, there's no way for anyone else to get him until after he signs permanently with Frankfurt.

Remember that Ibra back heel goal vs Atalanta when he was at Inter? This is Jovic's semi final match winner from last season:

Benfica are probably suicidal at this point, losing this kind of talent for 12m should get you the sack. Allegedly he was having attitude issues when he was there but honestly listening to him today that's very hard to believe, even after becoming the youngest ever player to score five in a game he was full of praise for his team mates.

So fucking excited about the team's future, honestly with him Haller Rebic and Kostic and now that Hütter has got them firing we have one of the best attacks in Europe.

Hoeneß was way worse, incredibly enough. That's the worst press conference that anyone has ever given

First he attacks everyone in the room for being liars and having no shame in attacking his players who are in the worst form of their lives and seconds later he says he sold Bernat for just 5m because he was solely responsible for almost losing the CL tie at Sevilla 😆

Also unironically proceeds to say his criticism of Özil was correct and the only thing he'd change would be saying he played like crap instead of muck

"Well Uli Hoeneß, you criticized the journalism and said you will fight against too critical journalism.."
Uli Jumping in "Disrespectful"
.."Okay disrespectful journalism. There are people out there who say that you 2 guys sometimes talk that way about players.."
KHR: "Give an example"
"..Well you said that Mesut Özil played like dirt.."
Uli: "I shouldn't have said Dirt I should have said shit" were his exact words

Full interview (no need to understand German, btw)

his surname is perfect for how i would describe him to a friend because they would understand as it's american slang. pure hoeness.

i hope no german basketball player ever has that surname and makes it to the nba.

Reiss Nelson started today for Hoffe. Scored twice. Up to 4 for the season.

Here are the goals:

Delighted it’s going well for him. I think he struggled in his first start but grabbing two goals should do his confidence a lot good.

The kid is going places.

If he keeps this up, he will be like a new signing.

Great stuff.

Where exactly is he playing for Hoffenheim? He looks to be pretty far forward and central in some of the clips I've seen.

Apparently he started up front today.

Saw on Reddit that Jovic admitted himself that he wasn't professional during his time there.

" The competition was tough. The options were Mitroglou, Jonas and Raul, but I didn't have chances because of my own mistakes. It wasn't in my plans to leave RedStar so early. And as soon as I left I so Red Star winning and those games with Ludogorets, a great atmosphere at Marakan. I wasn't easy, I wasn't mentally prepared. I think even the more experienced players would have many chances to play. Mitroglou scored in pratically every game, and when he didn't there was still Raul. It was a tough period."

"I didn't behave profressionally. I missed my country and made severe mistakes."

"At a certain time, Mitroglou was in bad form and Raul was injured. I had made goals in the B team and did a better week of practice with the main team. Everything was going great. I scored from the left, the right, everything I tried I scored. 2 days from the game, the coach put me among the starters during practice. Mitroglou was nervous. At the end of the practice Rui Costa told me I had to keep that level. Although, I decided to go to Lisbon downtown and only went home after midnight. Benfica saw it and of course I wasn't called."

I agree with you, it's Benfica's biggest mistake since sellilng Bernardo for 15m to Monaco.

AM/SS.

Glad he is not being wasted playing wing back.

up front today as part of a front 2 in their 352 & won MOTM

Started ahead of Joelinton and is now joint top goal scorer and 2nd in team player rankings behind their GK.

Also interesting that he is described as being a forward rather than a winger or midfielder = wonder if he will eventually partner Nketiah in a front 2?

Do you think the club will be able to avoid being pillaged by the bigger clubs both inside the Bundesliga and elsewhere?
We seem to see plenty of talent at clubs like BVB, Schalke, Leverkusen, Hoffenheim, RBL and now Frankfurt, but the team gets broken up each season by either being sold/acquired by clubs like Bayern, or the talk of interest from other CL clubs seems to upset the team balance or harmony.

Watching Hoffenheim vs Stuttgart. Very low on quality. Nelson has been poor on the few occasions he has got the ball, but that's about 4 times in the whole half.
He's playing as a very narrow right forward in a 3 man attack. Not suiting him at all and he's either not allowed to roam and find the ball or he hasn't been clever enough to find space. Not that there's been anyone that has the quality to pass to him even if he did. Looking like an 18 year old right now though.

Stuttgart down to 10 men, so if Nelson stays on there should be more chance for him to get into the game in the second half.

Also, pleased to see Sancho get another couple of goals for Dortmund today. He's got a totally different situation to Nelson and so I'd expect a player like him to rack up good numbers in a dominant team, but I love his style of play and confidence. Plays exactly as he always did in youth football.

Brilliant, brilliant stuff from Nelson! Great close control in the box to go through two challenges and then forces the keeper into a decent save and the rebound is tucked away.

Now 2-0! No involvement for Nelson though.

4-0 now, Hoffenheim running riot against the 10 men of Stuttgart. Nelson not directly involved in the 3 later goals, but his assist for the crucial goal that broke the deadlock was outrageous.

Doesn't do it justice, can't see the killer drag back:

[Twitter][/Twitter]

Nice! Hopefully he can learn to produce that more consistently at the top level.

He's got to see more of the ball to start doing that. Not sure whether it was his fault or his team mates--my eyes tell me it was mainly the latter because he was finding pockets of space, but he just didn't get passed the ball anywhere near often enough to make more of an impact.

Just saw the highlights from that game. That was some drag back for the opener. Also he helped create the space for the 2nd goal by ensuring the last defender couldn't commit to either side.

I agree with you that he probably isn't getting passed the ball enough at this stage to have the kind of impact Sancho is having at Dortmund. Hopefully as he gets more games he will be trusted more and show off his dribbling ability. He does seem to have good awareness to find space.

Massive talent.

Much better angles in this one. High level stuff.

Also worth noting that's Pavard he's fooling with the drag back, not any old Bundesliga defender.

That's incredible. I like that he's got the audacity to take the shot too. He had every right to try after that dribbling raid.

Edit: On repeated viewing it actually looks like the ball gets deflected off the defending player on the ground. It would probably have gone straight in otherwise.

7 days later

I doubt that was shot rather than an attempt at a cross just as he slipped as he connected with the ball.

That said, it's now what? 5 goals in 5 games for Hoff? Great stats no matter which way you look at it. Seems to be taking the BL by storm although I wonder why he's first choice for them in each BL game and then goes to the bench in the CL games?

Great goal Kramaric.

Hoffenheim 1-0 Augsburg. It’s a good game. Hoffenheim scores against the run of play

Nelson isn’t on yet

1-1 Now

Augsburg equalizes. Quality through pass and finish

Nelson on now. Last 8 minutes or so

Lol. It’s impossible

He scores with basically his first touch!

Is he on Southgate radar? They need a Welbeck replacement
