0-1 is such an awkward score in the sense that if you lose the game by any score other than 0-1 you lose the tie.

Maybe. Poch would've noted that as soon as spurs went long and started getting physical, ajax' passing deteriorated very noticabley. There's avenues for the scum to exploit

Spurs will do them in the 2nd leg. Ajax needed the 2nd goal.

Neither team can defend, but Ajax kept a clean sheet because Tottenham had so little quality. Son will make a difference, but Ajax will walk through Spurs at home. 1-0 is a tricky score line, 2-0 certainly would have done it.

I think truthfully Ajax can only really beat themselves. Lots of young players that will feel it big time in the final 20 minutes next week.

I think Spurs found their path to getting back into the tie in the second half. The physical power in that team is what gets them over the line in the latter stages of games.
Compare that to our team of softies.

We played them twice this season and probably should have won twice, largely after coming on strong in the latter stages of the respective games.

Who were the other candidates? Walker has been pretty average all season, Trippier is just as hyped up, Doherty or Perreira maybe? Can't think of too many candidates. TAA has had as good as a season as any of them.

I know the doom and gloom is to be expected when we're shit but the praise for our rivals on here is sickening, doubly so when it's unwarranted after they just lost at home to a team that cost a fraction to build.

He's been part of the best team. Individually, he's been mediocre because he is mediocre. Walker, Perreira, Wan-Bissaka, Doherty, Coleman, hell, even Maitland-Niles and Kieran Trippier would fare better in his place. And I'd argue at least 5 of those have had better seasons than him at their own clubs.

He's a genuinely terrible defender. I'm not surprised in the slightest he's been left out tonight.

If Ricky rates Trippier ahead of you then you’ve got problems.

He does have 9 assists to his name which is pretty amazing for a full back.

I think it is more of a tactical decision. Klopp probably wants to be more defensive today. Gomez is the more robust of the two defensively. Alexander-Arnold though is much better going forward. As a 2-way fullback, Alexander-Arnold is probably the better bet.
