LOL. Another VAR penalty. Debatable call.
Porto score.
Champions League 2018/2019
I don't think that's debatable really, idiotic from Florenzi.

Appears you're right, I thought the same as you guys initially and then read something else which was bogus apparently. In that case this is not a bullshit rule being correctly applied but an asshole ref not applying the rules. How do you look at that replay 20 times and end up with a pen.
VAR isn't fixing anything, new rules aren't either. If a monkey works with a stick and you improve his tool you still expect a fucking monkey to do a job for you. Refs like this need to be weeded out
this past weekend's IFAB rule changes don't go into effect until june anyway.
Yeah, it was a Mustafi move to be honest.
i would want that penalty if an arsenal player was in that situation.
PSG will always bottle because they spend their weeks playing against farmers, and very very rarely are put under any pressure.

That's some Daily Mail level assessment.

They’re 20 points up against said farmers. Surely Mbappe and Neymar will look at this and wonder if its worth it to be out of the real competition in Round of 16 every year. I think they are going to have a very difficult summer, especially with the Real Madrid rebuild
The night of the CL bottlers
Where’s Dula? The only thing this night needs is a prophecy that Spurs will win it all.
Man Utd single handily saving Michael Jackson’s Legacy tonight.
P.S: PSG lost because they have zero European pedigree. I worry for City....
Let’s hope Man Utd get Spurs in the next round.

What part of this United team has any European pedigree? I've never understood how this works. Is it the spirit of the club?
This Ole’s at the wheel stuff needs to be ended.
Would love Ajax to win it this year but sadly Spurs will
When I see Spurs and United enjoying famous European nights, it just emphasizes the damage that Gazidis and Wenger did in their latter days. Hopefully, we can be back at top table soon.
We need to scab fourth and hopenit derails Spurs
Hopefully United have used all their luck up tonight and there's none left for Sunday.
On a side note, this will be one of the weakest last 8's in a long time with United, Spurs, Ajax and Porto. Fucking dogshit.
Spurs have two tough league games but they are late in the season. I think they will have enough in most games before then unless they lose focus during a tough European quarterfinal. They should be able to ride the favorable schedule to a top 3 place going into the last 3 or rounds. We need to avoid defeat this weekend and then go flawless thereafter
After these games, I want back into Champs League and out of Chumps League
Last minute goal. As predicted. Should put money on it next time.
PSG should've kept Emery. Tuchel is a bottler.
One can only hope uniteds downturn will be of similar magnitude, but it's looking unlikely to happen this season. Fucking jose shafting us from beyond the grave

the club has pedigree. i've always felt like that's why things went against us sometimes in europe (thierry talked about it in that cska game in moscow back in the day). when UEFA doesn't have any respect for you, they cheat you. see robin van persie at the camp nou. arsenal, roma and psg are in the same boat. chelsea somehow overcame clear cheating to keep them down ... i guess that somehow was didier drogba.

I hope this result and performance puts an end to some of the crap that's been fired at Emery because of those CL exits.
Also glad to see some of the glitter failing to stick on Tuchel after how players etc have been talking him up.
Who gets the credit for the Ajax performance - Academy?, DoF/Technical Director (Overmars)?, General Manager (van der Sar)?, Manager, or all of the above?
Really, only Barca or Atletico can stop an English club from winning it.
Shady wrote:Really, only Barca or Atletico can stop an English club from winning it.
Based on their performance Ajax have the ability to dump anyone out, even Barca or Citeh.
Ajax will be this years Monaco, great until they face a team like Atletico and get humbled.
Neymar is raging.
I'm happy with the result last night. United won't win it anyway and they'll have extra games during the run-in.
After Chelsea won it while being absolutely awful, I would rather they went out yesterday than take that risk. Also the feel good factor they now have right before our match.
They would never have given us that penalty. Not in a million years. They would have given it against us though, 100%. We have been absolutely shafted throughout the years in Europe and in England as well.
Hmm. We were awarded a very soft penalty in the 90th minute just 5 days ago. And we wasted it.
The sooner Manure encounter dodgy form under that ridiculous looking manager the better for one's sanity.
Claudius wrote:Hmm. We were awarded a very soft penalty in the 90th minute just 5 days ago. And we wasted it.
It wasn't even soft, it was a pretty disgraceful dive. These things happen all the time. The one time we played a Champions League final we went 1-0 up against Barcelona because we were awarded a freekick at the edge of the box from a dive so clear that even Wenger felt compelled to criticise it afterwards.
United had a few defensive players yesterday, notably Lindelöf, who were just as good as PSG were wasteful too. I saw his stats this morning because the domestic papers won't shut up about it, and they're pretty remarkable: 92% pass accuracy, 100% aerial duels won, 100% tackle success rate, 3 clearances, 0 fouls. This in a game where PSG had 70 percent possession and put United under constant pressure. I was hoping United and Mourinho had ruined him but he looks to be kicking into another gear this season. Smalling and Dalot were good too. The latter thoroughly embarrassed Bailly with his substitution. He's only 19 but the difference in class was shocking.
One thing that makes you think United are going to run out of luck at some point is this, though:
Solskjaer's overperforming of his xG is very similar to Emery and Arsenal earlier this season. It's obviously not sustainable over a prolonged period of time. The question is when they will start to tail off. I think the win last night is going to rejuvenate them unfortunately.

I thought United were dogshit yesterday. PSG beat themselves yesterday, a piss poor performance and still they were going through if it weren't for a bunch of consecutive freak accidents (Mbappe stumbling over the ball, Buffon shitting the bed, the worst ref call of the season)
Depends on how you look at it. United as a team basically had no game of their own. They were run ragged by a vastly superior side (how good was Marquinhos as a defensive mid by the way?? Outrageous player) and had massive luck and a shocking referee helping them out. Their defence definitely wasn't dogshit though. It was better than it had any right to be, and it was one of the factors that ended up winning them the game.
Just to be clear Klaus, who scored from that penalty we were awarded in the final?
I thought their defense was easily cut up, particularly down their right hand side where Di Maria and Bernat had the freedom of the park and were constantly getting space. They were unfortunate not to connect with Mbappe a few times. Some better connections, timings on offsides, not slipping on throughballs, etc., and PSG kill the game before halftime. Better focus on defense and PSG don't concede any of those idiotic goals. I give United very little credit for last night.
PSG will be a crisis club this summer.
Quincy Abeyie wrote:Just to be clear Klaus, who scored from that penalty we were awarded in the final?
The freekick was as bad though.
As much as the ref fucked it up, you have to lay the blame solely on Tuchel and the bottling PSG players. Their mentality at this stage is more of fear than pedigree and it's not a coincidence they kept bottling it. The United lineup was so so poor, they literally had no players left. PSG should have won this match 10 times out of 10, let alone drawing, let alone losing at that stage.
OGS is the real deal unfortunately. I suspected it long enough since his brilliant start, but he has played enough tough teams in that run to be just pure luck. I seriously suspect Fergie is giving a lot of coaching tips behind the scenes as well, his style is far too similar. That team had no way in hell to get a result at Paris. If Wenger put out a similar team it will be 8-2.
The teams in europe are so poor nowdays I am a little afraid one of the English teams will win it. I think it will be left with Bayern, Ajax, Porto, Atletico and Barca of which none are seriously consistent enough to trust.
