Their emphasis is on veteran players who are ready to contribute everyday. They took a gamble on Sancho based on this. City are constant looking to win today and optimizing around that. And they can afford it, and given the flexibility to flout the rules. They’re fine. If Spurs or Liverpool had done this, I’d agree with you.

FFP however weak still provides some restrictions, hence why Mahrez was their only signing. Imagine they kept Sancho and spent that money on a young world centre mid instead. Also, finances aside Sancho is going to be a much, much better player.

I’m sure they’d have preferred to have some option on Sancho, but it’s not like he would have stayed and had that breakout season with them. Dortmund afforded the opportunities in a weaker league. Weren’t they supposed to milk the World Cup and let Uefa milk it’s competitions. This is atrocious. 24 team club World Cup sounds far worse than 48 team World Cup. And two years of CWC in Qatar? Aren’t they tired of sterile environments? Why don’t they favor countries that have already built strong football cultures like Japan or Morocco if they want to colonize the world? Oh, I forgot.
