That throw is perfect too, genuinely couldn't tell which ball was the real one. 😆

I thought Van Bronckhost reaction to that was perfect as well 😆

Lol. That Dumfries chap took it a li’l bit personal

Messi fifth in Ballon D'or. Griezmann ahead of him. 😆

This season: Messi 9 goals 7 assists, Griezmann 3 goals 5 assists.
Last season; Messi 34 goals 12 assists, Griezmann 19 goals 9 assists.

Even without those numbers any sane person watching them play can see that Griezmann could only dream of being half the player Messi is, but hey, he was decent in a couple of matches in the world cup.

Even Modric in 2018 have been at his worst in the league since he joined Real Madrid. This award is only becoming more and more laughable. I honestly don't think some of the voters watch much football.

Tbh if we're going by who the best footballer is, Messi should have won every single Ballon d'or since 2009. It's still laughable how skewed these awards are to a handful of games.

This is still the worst thing to happen on the night:

Ada Hegerberg can fuck off, but yeah that's in really poor taste. You have to wonder how out of touch with the world some people are.

Retired from the national team at 22 I think, just to mess with Quincy.

That’s what always gets me. I mean we all know there’s loads of creeps out there but you’d have to live in a cave to think that would go down well.

What she do?

Almost like Klaus said. Don't think she's officially retired, but at the moment she won't play because of disagreements with the Norwegian FA. She seems like a primadonna and a difficult person to deal with. When she decided she didn't want to play for the national team anymore she unfriended every Norwegian player from Facebook as well. Her teammates ffs. The Norwegian Team of the Year was announced today as well, voted by Norwegian players. Hegerberg wasn't even in the team, obviously because the way she's been behaving stopped players from including the world's best player.

They also asked Mbappe to dance when he won an award.

Did they ask him to twerk?

FIFA should apologise to Messi and Ronaldo
Reminds me of when the NBA was giving MVPs to Karl Malone because we were all tired of 23.

They should stop making such a big fuss out of individual awards for team sports altogether. We already have awards for the best teams. They're called trophies. All the rest is just advertising.

People will always want to declare the MVP. That's what drives social media discussion. Not who is the best team. But if you are going to do it, try to have a much more rational approach, because very often these Balon d'ors tend to be a proxy for team trophies rather than real evaluations of who the best individuals actually are

Modric had the best 2018 and therefore deserves the Ballon D'or.

He's won the most important trophies, sure, but he's not been the best footballer or put in the best performances. Never mind Modric, how on earth are Griezmann and Mbappe ahead of Messi?

Led his country to a World Cup final in a tournament where he was the best player, and was a crucial member of a CL winning team. Enough merit as far as I'm concerned.

Agree on Griezmann and Mbappe being ahead of Messi, farcical.

Good match so far in the Copa Libertadores. Boca leading at HT 1-0 thanks to a class goal by Benedetto. He's a seriously good striker, can't believe at 28 he is still playing in South Amrica and nobody took a punt on him. It's been obvious hes class for years now.

Yeah Benedetto is class.

All River Plate for the last hour or so, close to finishing the first half of extra time. Tense match

River won 3-1. Shame but clearly deserved

Thought Barros Schelotto fucked up with his subs. Taking Benedetto out that early and then not doing anything when his team were overrun for more than an hour. Was odd anyway how River played exactly like you'd assume a team in a Superclasico final would while Boca looked completely shattered early in the second half

Modric won on the technicality that there were no real star performances at WC.
I equate Modric's performances to those of Xavi in his Barca days.
World class but not the best player in the calendar year.
Sure he was Croatia's best player in helping them get to the final but they got there with a lot of help from Perisic, Rebic, Mandzukic, and not forgetting Rakitic who sacrificed his normal game to play the very important "water-carrier" role.

It was weird how fucked Boca looked. I thought they had the better of it overall before then, but they just couldn't maintain. The Libertadores is really good value on the entertainment front. Great spectacle, what football should be like.

The River goals were class as well.

Some good CL ties today, with Liverpool vs PSG looking like a great one.

Suppose there will be some interesting moments in the Barca vs Tottenham game but I can only bring myself to watch that to see a Messi show....and maybe scout Dembele as a January signing 🙂

Think tottenham will win this game. Barca have nothing to play for so they'll just spend the 90 simply dicking about like they do in the return legs in the knockout stages after getting leads in the first games. No fun.

Callejon is such an underrated player. His final pass is always fantastic

Wouldn’t be surprised if Alan Sugar had something to do with that, anyone can get one of those these days.

Why is that dude having mock sex with that steak?
