He's been the most fouled player in Serie A over the last three seasons I think, it's definitely by design and not him scrambling to salvage something. Also brings some much needed cynicism or rather street smarts with him, our braindead choirboys get hacked from behind all the time and instead of taking the free they tumble around for a couple seconds until another opponent robs them off it and of course PL refs are too stupid to call the foul afterwards.
What I like most about him is how he plays the ball into the space ahead of Xhaka, Ramsey etc, rarely directly into them. That's one of the most annoying feats of Wenger's team, it's not even safer to play that way it's simply players being too lazy to run themselves and too Gibbsy to force their team mates forward. Torreiras passing has been a bit off in recent weeks, no doubt also a consequence of fatigue but unlike 90% of Arsenal midfielders of recent years his balls don't shrink when he has to pass it between two attackers.
