I think his success was a bit overstated to be honest, but to me it was definitely a result of him running more than anyone else on the pitch. I reckon it's the exact reason we bought him, and it's also the one thing that has disappeared completely from his game from January and onwards. Maybe it's because he got marked out physically, I can't tell, but it's not an outlandish idea.

I think it was visibly clear that he ran out of steam around the new year, but I think that's normal for a young player new to the league. It was true for Guendouzi too.

However while the latter has been given another chance at the start of this season, Torreira is being written off because he's not playing well in the No.10 role in a team where virtually everyone is under performing or looking lost.

You guys may well be right, I just think it's very premature.

I see in Torreira a player who can win the ball and quickly start transitions with instinctive passing. I don't see a team forged around instinctive passing though.

Lucas is Arsenal's December player of the month, and I'm delighted for him. I was seriously impressed with his performance against United and I believe he had Arteta gushing too. I hope the next half season fleshes out a sufficient sample to understand the full extent of his limitations in this league, but I would build the midfield around this lad. Glad to hear rumors about us looking for a box-to-box midfielder this month.

It hasn't seemed like he's taken much to living in England either, but hopefully that was partly a consequence of him struggling on the field. I'd really like him to stay on.

Yeah I'd say it's definitely linked. That being said I do think it's important that he tries to learn some more English, it can't help much if you can't talk to people.

He actually scored a couple of winners in recent weeks, his form has been fine. They're most likely just trying to negotiate the fee again, seeing how we're moving in the market they'd be dumb not to try to

Keep him - he's serviceable. Loan out Lokonga, sell El Neny and Xhaka. Revamp the entire midfield now.

Don't think it's about the transfer fee, I think it's about the wages. We've probably paid part of them this year. Fiorentina can't afford what he's on.

I don't believe this Klaus, Fiorentina have been bought by some American billionaire who's putting in a lot of money. They got Gonzalez for a big fee last summer, loaned Piatek who's probably on bigger wages than Torreira and from the sounds he's staying there, Nastasic was on a big salary as well before they got him a year ago.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them coming back to try get him for a lower fee now. They know he has just a year left on his contract and he's not wanted here, if they negotiate again they could even get him to accept lower wages.
