They had no obligation to be since they were through at that point. It's no different than a team protecting a result.
As ridiculous as it looks to be eliminated on Fair Play points, these are the rules everyone agreed on before the tournament. You can't be fine with it beforehand just because you think it's unlikely to happen only to throw a tantrum when the tie breakers don't end up favouring you. Nothing but sour grapes here.
