Chances created is just how many times did you pass to someone who took a shot. Its a pretty poor stat.

Yup. If someone in a scoring position passes the ball to another player who scuffs the chance with the defence recovering or whatever, it adds to your stats but makes it a shitty play.
Ozil had a pretty good game yesterday though when I watched the replay. Great chances throughout.

If he'd been pointing and shouting like Flamini maybe he'd have the same transformative effect on his teammates. Everyone was so thrilled when they realised he was in the starting eleven. Who needs better players when you can have louder players.

The backlash from the German public is ridiculous. The first game he was poor, yesterday he created 2 of the best chances which would have been score 90% of the time. The way the fans turned against him after the match is pathetic. Don't blame him a single bit for reacting to that.

I am still bewildered why Germany took things so easy the entire match and played at a snail pace though.

He doesn’t transmit negative energy ffs, he’s just a quiet guy who is built a certain way and looks a certain way. You sound like those guys who believe women should always smile because they look angry if they don’t.

Why is it so difficult to accept someone who doesn’t conform to the norm?

Messi is a superstar who makes a difference almost every game he plays. If Özil had Messi like productivity/numbers I'd happily indulge any primadonna shenanigans from him.

Forget Messi who's on a different level entirely to Özil; let's compare him to Fabregas instead. Similar players, brilliantly talented and play in similar positions, yet Fabregas' attitude and mentality was 10 times better. It's not by coincidence that Özil is singled out for his poor attitude and body language by media and fans. And no it's not driven out of some sort of agenda against pool little Mesut.

Its worth noting that German fans don't normally turn their backs against Ozil. It's normally other players that take the flak over the past few years.

This time round its possible his prolong poor form, massively influenced by the Erdogan saga caused this.

That's not really true Clrnc. It's definitely gotten worse since the Erdogan photo but he's always been criticised more than others mostly because he's not ethnically German.

and given the fact that he didnt actually play that bad, i would say much of it is solely because of who he is, not how he played. again, i watched the games, he was nowhere near their worst player
