prolly cos people are in their mid thirties and have lost their engines.

Indeed. It’s a huge gamble. American broadcasters here talk about “the cliff” when it comes to athletes - it’s the exception who get better with age once you’re past, say, 32. That’s why Brady and LeBron are looked upon with awe. I’m just hoping Licht has at least a full year still in the tank, and the pace of the premiership doesn’t do him in. Looking forward to seeing how he adapts

Brazil’s centre mids are insanely boring, including the ones on the bench. In fact their entire team is boring bar Neymar, Coutinho and Marcelo, and the latter seems to have a much more reserved role for the NT. Yawn.

Agreed. Would've thought they'd give someone like Fred a go in there. He can bring a bit of dynamism and creativity.

Is there any other team that has 3 similarly exciting individuals?
Think Brazil are creating the most chances of any team despite being 'boring' by their standards.

At most 40m worth to be honest for someone of his skillset.

Nah more like 42.5m

I would add baby Jesus to that group. He shows it in flashes. Ask Xhaka. I think Brazilians will happily take boring though if it comes with a cup. They had an insanely exciting team just over a decade ago with Adriano, Gaucho, Kaka and Ronaldo as part of a magic quartet that promised to dominate the game.

Really? Will they? I thought Brazilians like winning in style more than anyone. Dunga's 94 team seems to have been not very loved. I remember Gene Hackman's team getting some heat because of the Mourinho style grinds.

These valuations are confusing. Can we convert to Michus instead?

Agreed Claude. I think he's having a better World Cup than he's being given credit for. Above all he works really hard and moves well even if the goals aren't coming at the moment. Those two features are virtually all that Firminho has to offer, which makes me unsure why people are calling for Gabriel to be benched... Firminho has scored one goal in his last twelve games for Brazil. Jesus was their top scorer and top assister during the qualifying phase. Tite made the right choice going into the tournament.

Is this Neymar or Coutinho’s team at this World Cup?

Also, if he hadn’t become a football star, wouldn’t Neymar have made a great extra in b-grade action flicks? Imagine him being shot or stabbed, and then spending the next ten minutes rolling around in the background in agony as he succumbs to his wounds. I’d pay for that.

£40,000,001

Neymar is a joke. Talented player, but a cheating diver. He's also clearly bought into his own hype, and tries all these meaningless technical flashy plays that leads nowhere, and are in fact ineffective and time wasting.

I genuinely think Neymar has lost a yard of pace as well. He's only 26 but he's been playing men's football for 10 years now. Doesn't look the same player he did 2 years ago.

He's definitely missing something at the moment. He was coming off a three-month ankle injury going into the tournament though, and he limped off in training the other week. I think that's the reason. He didn't look slower to me at PSG.

I thought the same throughout last season to be honest. He does look less fluid and balanced here though, which is a sure sign he's not properly fit.

Gariel Jesus seems massively overrated to me. If nothing else he's an incredibly dull striker.

Feels like they're all better technical players in their club lives, which makes no sense really. The ball was bouncing two yards off the Brazilians with just about every touch, no close dribbling, just kick and run. Must be mental.

Yup. I just cannot understand it.
It's been the same with the Argentinian and German players but not the Colombians or Portuguese.
Even the Spanish, Isco apart, haven't looked their normal selves so i cannot blame it on injuries.
I'm baffled.

A flashier Chicharito.
