Well, yes - he's not brought in to be first choice.
Surely a valid comparison is how he compares to other back up right backs in the league rather than whether he can stop Sterling and Hazard? Like you said, being younger and faster is no guarantee of success either and I'd rather have Lichtsteiner than Jenkinson, Chambers, AMN or Coquelin at right back. We've already tried the young players with 'potential' to act as cover - and that didn't work. Now let's try this.
Furthermore, if Bellerin doesn't push on by this time next season we ought to bin both of them and sign a better right back but I would argue that this summer isn't the time to spend pursuing right backs given that there are more critical areas to be strengthened.
