Arsenal recently welcomed new manager Unai Emery and now are looking for a revolution on the transfer market. They have begun to lay the groundwork for next season and as reported earlier, they are interested in Diallo of Manz. They also have their eyes set on Italy as they are very interested in Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, born in 1996. The English club would like to purchase the player without paying his release clause. They are looking to the great rapport between their new coach Emery and Roma sporting director Monchi (the two worked together at Sevilla), in order to help them open negotiations. Pellegrini is also receiving strong interest from Juventus.
In addition to Pellegrini, Arsenal have also sent out a feeler for Praet of Sampdoria. They are looking to him as an alternative to Pellegrini, but it can't be ruled out that the Gunners will try and sign both players. They have already had concrete discussions with the agent of Praet, and they could even come to pay his release clause of 25 million euro. Praet has been followed by clubs in Italy such as Juventus, Inter, Roma and Napoli, but those clubs have not had any concrete negotiations.
Lorenzo Pellegrini (or Dennis Praet)
I approve of this rumour. I think the bloke's a class act in the making.
these transfer rumor mill reports show they know nothing about the new arsenal. what does emery have to do with transfers? sanllehi and mislintat are going to be talking to monchi. they're so use to writing stories about arsenal: "insert manager name here" wants player X and will try to sign him.
not anymore. he'll coach up what sven brings him like he did with monchi at sevilla.
I think the manager still has a lot of influence over who we sign. It's still his decision in the end.
they'll talk about positions of need and style of play of course, but that's about it. sanllehi and mislintat are going to recruit the best they can find. at the press conference ivan even wanted to be clear what his job title was: head coach. it'll be no different than his relationship with monchi at sevilla.
he should have all the influence on who gets binned though because he has to work with them.
I don't think that's how it worked at Sevilla either.
I guess that Emery evaluates the squad, decides what he's missing, and then he takes that to the head scout along with any names he personally wants. The scouting department try to find players that suit the team and return a detailed briefing on each one. After that Emery picks who he wants and it goes to the negotiating team, and if they can't get that player they move on to the next target, and so on. It's not Sven sitting in a building by himself and just signing players who Emery then has to squeeze into the team.
"Why is Salomon Kalou sitting in the dressing room, Sven?"
Updated link in OP. Original article also lists Praet as an alternative.

Disagree with that. The advantage of a Mislintat is his knowledge and connections, and his bandwidth to go to work on them. It's not an either-or with Emery's knowledge and connections.
If they're doing their jobs right they'll leverage everything they've got to identify and sign players. Final authority is less relevant because in most cases the value will be evident.
Thought Praet was nailed on for Juve. Also, don't think Pellegrini and Praet have the same profile - the latter is a lot more attacking and creative compared to the former, with what little I have seen of both. Cristante would be a better shout than Pellegrini for our MF, IMO.
Only watched Pellegrini a couple of times but he stood out on both occasions. Good on the ball, strong physique and a good shot.

Agreed with all points. Pellegrini is decent, Praet a completely different type and underwhelming most of the time. Neither would or should be good enough for us - Cristante would be. Would need to play a little more defensively than he does for Atalanta but it wouldn't hurt his output as he gets most of his goals from attacking set pieces anyway. Another one of this new breed of dribbling midfielders, if we can't get Ndombele I most definitely wouldn't mind settling for Cristante
We have been linked with Praet since his Anderlecht days. Haven't seen anything really special about him.
Pellegrini and Cristante are not at the level currently I hope we would get for a signing.
