When Unai Emery was appointed as #Arsenal manager I changed my bio. Some of the DMs I’ve received have been amazing. Today’s was the best.

The club board wouldn’t give in to any player, or let a coach do whatever they want. At PSG for example, there were a lot of issues with organisation and hierarchy. Thiago Silva had a favorite sports doctor, Marcelo. Whenever he had a problem, he would just call the president and say that the French doctors were treating him badly or whatever. Do you think this kind of thing could happen at Arsenal or any big club? They would never call Gazidis for that!

Do you think the Arsenal press officer would censor people in the press or threaten agents over the phone? Or could you see him having to take charge of the youth team or take charge of marketing? Or is it normal that all the players who see how disorganised the club is without the president changing anything? Well at PSG you saw that.

PSG sounds like an absolute clown car.

It doesn't sound too different to what used to happen at City before Guardiola. Yaya with the cakes Tevez refusing to be subbed on Adebayor being himself etc if you prop up a club with external funds you need a strong hand and experienced staff otherwise the players will run amok. Chelsea did not really have that problem because the players knew Roman would simply have them killed if they overdo it.

Fair point.

I'd argue even at Chelsea the players have thrown their toys out of the pram every now and again but in general Chelsea have always gone with managers who have strong personalities and could hold their own.

I'm a little worried on that front. Emery seems soft-spoken, looks like a bookkeeper. Combine that with his lack of English fluency, and you can imagine the younger English players blowing him off.

Klopp has more testosterone and charisma. I know that ship has sailed, but dammit, that was our chance that summer.

I mean, if Wenger could come in and demand the respect of a load of old English farts who were set in their ways then I reckon Emery will be alright. Serious players will generally respect anyone who’s methods work. The ones who don’t probably don’t have a future here or in top flight football anyway.

Wenger is soft-spoken but he's incredibly charismatic. And obviously, he has a huge reputation.

Emery is softspoken but he also appears very charismatic to me not unlike Wenger.

It's true that he wasn't able to control the PSG dressing room but is that particularly reflective of the situation he has at Arsenal? I don't think it is. Certainly we don't have any younger English players that are in a position to ignore him.

Ozil's probably the only player that may require some close attention but I don't think he's a diva.

I think all the lads are desperate to bring success to the Emery era. Kos was apparently in tears at that "emergency team meeting" a few months ago.

They're all ecstatic Wenger has left.

That seems like projection.

Nevertheless, the new manager effect is real so I expect a strong start to the season. The real test is when things don't go well.

I guess another way to look at it is this: Wenger would've struggled horribly with that PSG dressing room.
