Don't know lots about Emery's managerial career and style and he doesn't instantly stand out but I think it's better then Arteta, that would have been a much bigger risk and Emery certainly has experience. In the face of it I think it's maybe the best of the options we had.

I wouldn’t buy into what these clowns are saying, just desperately trying to cover their backs. They’re all coming out with different reasons why Arteta didn’t happen.

I like it, and it suits the personnel. Just need two really good full backs now.

Emery has never stood out for me though, so I am not holding out too much hope. Then again, what did Pochettino do with Espanyol?? Emery was certainly better, so it will be interesting how he translates over here.

Just when you thought this club couldn’t surprise me anymore and show less ambition this happens...

I hope he does well but can’t say the appointment excites me but hope I’m wrong. Very underwhelming but that’s arsenal for you.

I think we'd be more positive about this if he hadn't gone to PSG.

However, PSG are a weird club that no manager should be judged for anyway.

He was a prominent feature in the managerial wishlist back then from memory. While I agree that PSG is a strange job, I do feel like Pep or Klopp would have done a much better job stamping their authority there regardless of success. The worrying aspect is that the language barrier seems to be one of the biggest issues from his time there, given his English is mediocre at best, you wonder how he’ll cope here.
