I've not been hugely impressed with Emery. But he's alright.

I do like the unearthed fact that he's so meticulous and a disciplinarian. Especially the latter. Some of our lads need that boot up their arses.

Thank fuck it wasn't Arteta. That would've been so typically banter era Arsenal.

Great appointment, he ticks all the boxes. I'm totally on board with him seeing Auba and Ramsey as the two players to build around, as I see it the same way.

One thing that gives me a little pause is some of the suicidal passing from the back under a high press that I've seen in some clips. There's a time to play the ball long, and I don't want to see dumb goals conceded from over-elaboration by the GK/CB/FBs. I'm absolutely not a possession fanatic, and I've never been impressed by 20 passes 40+ yards from goal.

Well, you'll never know what their exact responsibilities are given that it's rightly behind close doors. However, up until a couple of years ago it was pretty much Wenger and Gazidis calling all the shots, now that circle has expanded and while someone (I suspect Gazidis for most things) has the final veto, the fact that there are more people involved and have their voices heard is a good thing.

Depends on the voices that are being heard and how well they listen to each other.

This guy is basically everything we've all been asking for. More tactical preparation, a modern approach to the game, individual coaching, focus on pressing... I can't wait for next season.

Now all I want is Wilshere gone and Ramsey extended. Hopefully at least one significant signing since there will be departures.

For what it's worth they had their highest ever points total under him in his second season there. He's no Simeone but he's no Zeman either

Blast from the past.
I used to watch Italian football in the 90s when Zeman first came on the scene.
His non-stop attack was a breath of fresh air in the tactical Italian game.
BTW, Signori was a player back then!

Funnily enough he reminds me of Wenger in his younger days when he would carry much stronger opinions on how football should be played and his general idealism etc. Delighted we’ve gone for someone like him over an Allegri/Simeone type.

Ornstein and Gazidis mentioned that during his interview he pulled up videos of ACADEMY players when asked about them. I’m assuming they mean guys like Nketiah and Nelson rather than Smith-Rowe, but still, that’s a pretty damn impressive level of detail.

By having a clear idea and getting his players executing it well. He's the right fit for where we are right now and i think he'll get us back into the top 4 fight and a bigger threat in knock out situations.

Saw a stat somewhere today that he is equal highest winning coach/manager in UEFA since his time at Sevilla - equal with Guardiola and ahead of Mourinho.
Combined with his quote about Mourinho having a cry baby attitude I'm going to look to utilising my options to be able to watch us play next season.

I'm hoping that the lack of WC football is going to work in our favour to hit the ground running, and I suspect that a number of clubs are going to have to work hard for their points against us next season.
