They've not even been able to play Fabinho off the bench this season, why on earth would they sign yet another midfielder? I guess free is free.

Can get rid of Hendo. Let another team figure out what he's good for.

Think it's more likely that Fabinho will go. Klopp doesn't rate him and he's too good to ride the bench in the long run.

Cheeky swap attempt for Ramsey in january?

I think Ramsey would love it there. Fabinho and Torreira would be an interesting proposition.

Rabiot is brilliant, reckon Juve will be keen too. Fits their modus operandi.

He'd take Liverpools midfield up a level though. He's far better than the likes of Shaqiri and Ox.

Possible. I'm really struggling to see how we fashion a squad that fits both him and Ozil in the starting line-up. I'm eager to hear proposals. Do you play a Klopp midfield V with Ozil on the flank?

IMO it can be done but the real question is do you also look to retain Emery's style to utilise the flanks to create width?

The 4222 gives the best options of being able to select all 5 of Ozil, Mkhi, Rambo, PEA and Lacazette,
but again the question re Rambo is do we consider him to be an AM or CM, and if he is used as CM are we able to allow him to continue to get forward?

4222 has no place for Ramsey. 42222 needs to AMS and two DMs, Ramsey fits nowhere in that formation. You need proper DMs because you are depending on flying fullbacks. This Ramsey riddle gives me a headache

However that does not mean that the roles of the players need to be the same - in fact they shouldn't be.

If Rambo can play an effective role as past of a 2 behind the CF for Wales at the EC then he should be able to do so for us.  That said it is noticeable that Wales are using him as CAM in a 4231 of late, and I wonder if it is a case of same position but a different role for club v country?

IIRC the Brazil team from WC'82 retained a central spine through the middle whilst the 'other' player in each pairing played a freer role to add width and numbers to the attack.  Whilst we obviously lack the quality of the players in that team IMO we have similar types that can be utilised in a similar manner in terms of roles, even whilst retaining the 4231/4213 as Emery wants to create & use width as part of the tactical approach and style.

For example:
Lacazette - Serginho
PEA/Mkhi - Eder
Ozil - Zico
Rambo - Socrates
Xhaka - Cerezo
Torreira - Falcao

Not exact replicas but close enough in terms of roles.

From what I remember watching, Serginho would stay central whilst Eder roamed wide to link with the FBs.
Zico would roam to create whilst Socrates played more like a B2B.  Falcao provided the foundation and cover for the CBs whilst Cerezo looked to set the tempo as DLP.

Against weaker opposition we are expected to dominate in terms of possession, we could play Rambo as B2B next to Torreira and Mkhi next to Ozil.

Or we could use the same tactics as the great Downies team of Jethart, who crushed the Uppies...literally...in the great Shrovetide Ba' game of 1048.

A 4222 is great for Ramsey. As Anzac has pointed out, he's practically playing the same role for Wales, especially in that 2016 Euros run.

This thread title no longer valid? Richalison has done amazing work at Everton so far and they've definitely made their money in this market. Reckon he'll be sold for big bucks to Chelsea or United next summer.

Would you take him here? A front four of Auba/Laca/Ozil and this fella would be pretty decent. Iwobi, Nelson and Nketiah as options. Extend Welbs and ditch the Armenian. Front four sorted.

Edit: Also, apologies. Do understand this has nothing to do with other clubs transfers 2018.

I mean, if he cost Everton £50m, how much is the big bucks that Chelsea or United will pay? 80? I'd certainly not take him here for that.

Me neither. He looks like a bossy player in the making but for that cash you either want a readymade player or one of those talents that just comes around a few times per generation, and Richarlison is neither.

The smart thing to do is to sell Mkhi, bring in a new starting player in the 26-28 age bracket, and then keep on developing Nelson and Iwobi.

The time to sign him was when we were interested in both him and Doucoure & when Silva was sacked at Watford.

Everton are now using him as CF which doesn't really suit our needs as IMO both PEA and Laca are currently better options in that role, and Welbz is proving a great 3rd option.

I'd much prefer a genuine wide man who loves to stay wide and attack the byline, rather than some pseudo wannabe WF/ST.

If we stick to a 4231 and go with genuine wide men then Iwobi/Nelson can provide a starting option on one flank and a 3rd option from the bench.

As we are going to lose Rambo I'd rather keep Mkhi until we get that replacement starting player.

Thats only the last few games and he was far better when out wide. Its more a case of Everton not having a decent striker and loads of good AM/wing players than anything about Richarlison.
