It would appear reports of Chelsea's demise were greatly exaggerated. Overpriced or not, Abramovich is clearly still prepared to put his hand in his pocket and pay for quality.

I like him a lot from the very little I've seen of him. Has the look of a Spurs player (seems like a cocky little knob as well), bet they'll be Glenn Hoddle comparisons within 5 minutes of his debut.

Read something a while ago that Abramovich no longer provides transfer funds but covers any pre-tax losses so as to help them meet FFP. Their funding was diversified so that their player trading treadmill on talent like Salah, De Bruyne etc keeps generating an extra 30-50m per season.

Similarly FSG do not provide any transfer funds for LFC other than the 1 off kitty when they took over. Much of LFC's spending has been off the funds generated by the sales of Suarez and Coutinho.
