But right now we have money pits in the shape of Ozil, Sokratis, and Guendouzi. Players who are just earning money to hang out at the club and not be involved. Then we have a long tail of senior players who hardly play like AMN and all our kids. Just garbage general management, even before covid hit.

Yup. I hadn't even gotten to the senior players like Mustafi who just aren't good enough and are sucking up salary and hope.

If a new general manager walked in and built a brand new team from scratch, it would look nothing like this

This would be a cut-and-dry issue if Ozil wasn't so popular. Arsenal aren't publically addressing this in case they open themselves up to criticism. For example, if Arteta doesn't rate Ozil, it leaves him open to criticism every time he loses; if the money isn't there to pay Ozil, technical director Edu will have his transfer dealings of the summer scrutinised directly. All in all, it seems sensible for Arsenal to keep quiet and avoid the direct debate as to why he’s not involved.

This is a unique situation though in which, potentially, no one is actually in the wrong. Ozil is well within his rights to sit out his deal, while Arteta and Arsenal aren’t exactly being unreasonable to not want a highly-paid player around, especially after they've asked him to go. It’s a sad, messy and disappointing situation - who’d have thought we’d end up here when Arsenal broke their transfer record for Ozil?

"I don't blame Arteta over Ozil," Brady told the Keys and Gray podcast. "He gave Ozil plenty of chances & he performed for a couple of months. Ozil just reverted back to type.

"He's not a good guy in the dressing room, he's not a good guy on the pitch. I've no problem with Mikel bombing him."

Brady added: "Gazidis should have let him go on a free three years ago and we should have spent what we are paying him over three years, £50million? – that we could have invested in a good young player instead of having him around the place."

Brady will still be very well informed about the goings on at the club, so it's a serious thing when he talks publicly about Özil like that.

Just pretty much confirms what everyone was talking about for the past 3 years. There's a good reason why 3 coaches drop him immediately, only Wenger condoned it. Absolute toxin it seems

Wenger condoned it, but if we truthful, Wenger himself did not play Ozil in many games.

There were always rumours of issues in the background.

I can't see three different managers, with three different personalities all not playing the guy, and yet all three are wrong, and Ozil is right. Doesn't make any sense objectively.

You can tattoo that on me. Hope we can offload him somehow, whether a loan or a late transfer, and save a few quid.
