If they can get up to 10m pounds, dump the guy. We have 17m pounds a year going to him. Put that into transfer fees and wages for the next up-and-coming Sane or van Dijk

£25m plus losing his wages should be impossible to turn down. No offence to Özil, he's a rare player but right now he's not much use.

Would love to see it happen and see that money invested in an Emery pick.

I'd consider using Ozil as a makeweight for Dembele or Malcom. Then take Denis off them on the cheap as a replacement for Ramsey, we would be better off.

Ramsey is going end of year. Ozil has contributed very little this year. If we have a Sane in Ozil’s place for the rest of the season, we are much better off. Ramsey can walk when the season ends if we do not agree a deal.

It should be a given that we would be better off, since selling Özil would earn us much less than what a Sane costs.

Sane is said to be on around 150,000 pounds a week. 200,000 pounds less than Ozil. That’s 10m pounds a year. If we are going to pay Ozil for 3 more years, that’s 30m pounds. You cool with that?

How much do you reckon Sane is worth in terms of commercial rights Claude? Bloke's got zero profile. No presence to speak of on social media, missed out on the World Cup with Germany, and there are half a dozen players at City who are more popular every year. Even guys like Rashford and Mkhitaryan outsold him last season as far as Premier League shirt sales go. This may come as a shock to some of you, but wages aren't just calculated based on performances.

I know Ozil is hugely popular. He’s loved everywhere. But commercial draw is not enough to overcome his limitations. He’s nowhere near what I imagined he was going to achieve at Arsenal.

Maybe so, but that's a different argument and beside the point when we're discussing wages. The club can absolutely afford to pay Özil what he earns, and it's probably a pretty decent deal for them too.

Why?

We look like a team who will miss top four and the suggestion is that we sell or lose most of the quality in the squad.
