I agree that there's probably a racist element to scapegoating Ozil. But most of the criticisms are exactly the ones that many Arsenal fans harbour towards him. So I'm not sure I'd say it's entirely an ugly xenophobic thing.
As for the rest, it's all whataboutism. Erdogan is garbage and Ozil shouldn't have met with him. My stance on that is totally separate from any other issues around the club or the world. I'm not implicitly endorsing or condemning anything else.
As for the player himself, he's obviously clever and technical, a joy to watch. But he ain't worth what he's paid, and a player in the front four can't offer so little goal threat. Wenger tried to coax it out of him but failed. It's just not in there.
