i think the system that we play also hurts laca too. hes asked to drop so deep into the midfield, that when we do gain an advantageous position, hes often well behind the play because his burst is completely gone. if he were playing closer to goal in an actual striker's position instead of some bizarre false 9 in our system, he might have scored more than 2 goals from open play this season. maybe not, because he looks shot physically, but we're doing him no favors with the way he is being deployed.
when we get a new striker, if we persist with the garbage play style we've developed this season, i dont expect that new striker to light the world on fire, no matter who he is, unless "who he is" is lionel messi in his prime.
