I expected him to miss, I wasn't even pissed off or anything. Goals are just not something he can do. Also watching him try to keep up with the rest of our players on the counter is pure comedy

Apparently Lyon want him. I hope their interest is sustained. Admiring of what he's contributed this season in some ways, but he's pretty much done for this league.

He was well suited to the back up role this season but as first choice he's way off.

I actually wouldn't mind keeping him on a one year contract next season. But strictly as a back-up option. That miss last night was quite bad, but he can still play a role in the squad. Especially since we are bound to have a lot of work anyway for the summer.
That being said, if he leaves it´s fine too. Hopefully Nketiah leaves too. He´s Championship quality at the moment at best.

I don't think we should even keep him as back up next season, we'd have to give him a new deal. He's just going to decline further. I'd rather just put Balogun in that role than keep Laca. However if we have any ambition at all we need 2 strikers in the summer.

He is not even suited as a backup role. Just not good enough for a club like us. Always miss big chances

He’s a big game player. Wouldn’t be surprised if he scores v Spurs/United/Chelsea/Liverpool this season.

I’m probably his biggest fan on here and I also think he should be replaced in the summer. Will be remembered very well though.

I don't know who you're referring to but it can't be me since I haven't.

laca is handling this all professionally. sure, he's probably playing for his next contract, wherever that may be, but there was an 18 month stretch around 2019/20 when his form was just a horror show in every aspect. thank god he's not that bad anymore

I'd be willing to forgive Edu and Arteta for only bringing in one striker this summer if they settle everyone's contracts and the forward they bring in is a game-changer who enables greater scoring potential across the front six.

But I don't think any internal solution for backup should be Lacazette. Converting Martinelli or Smith-Rowe into a false nine, recalling Balogun if he's any good, or taking a punt on an unheralded young striker would be preferable.

Quite. Three league goals all season and one of them was a penalty. He's over 30 and has never scored at a better rate than one in three; currently he's scoring about one in five. The time to sell him was two years ago.

106 goals and assists in 196 games - not bad at all.

Maybe we should keep him as back up for next season? Think he’s a little underrated on here despite being poor in front of goal recently

One shouldn’t underestimate the intangible qualities he can bring to the table like his leadership skills etc
