@ Comrade Claude: How much of it had to do with Laca not really understanding his role, or not having a clearly defined role? Right now, he’s the water carrier of the attack line, and that’s fine. You need selfless strikers like that in the squad as well. He has also allowed Eddie to come along without putting too much pressure on the kid, or burning him out.
You won’t have excellence in every position, that’s not likely. But if you can consistently extract 70-80% performances from Laca, by which I mean, minimize his variance and reduce the frequency of his poor games, you’re in business. Look at Chelsea with Giroud for instance. Theres a reason why Laca is being linked with the likes of Juve and Athletico Madrid. There’s a good to very good player in there.
Anyway, I don’t know why I posted all that because I’m firmly of the mindset that he’s gotta go. We need the money to shore up other critical positions.
