Can't help but find the prospect of Pires, Henry, and an unleashed mad Jens on the coaching staff exciting. Perhaps even a role for Santi and they're still linking Xabi Alonso too.

I don't know about the rest, but Alonso always struck me as a credible rumour. He's Arteta's best friend in the world.

We sign players who've never kicked a football before? I know it often looks that way but I don't think that's the case. There's many ways you could describe the Arteta appointment should it happen, unambitious etc, but I'm amazed anyone would describe it as low risk given the what an unknown quantity he is and the potential fallout.

Low risk because he's less likely to challenge the board and our approach to football.

The Cruyff-Guardiola style of positional play that Arteta has touted in previous interviews is the exact opposite of our approach to football. I don't even really know what "challenge the board" means.

Gotta keep Ramsey. Important to remember as well that the only time Ozil and Ramsey have worked together is when they were complimented by Arteta. So there is hope that he finds a player who can do what he did back in 13 or mould Xhaka accordingly. Either way we can't really be losing a player like Ramsey this summer. We need to keep our major assets together and push on. We don't have the time that would be needed to fix the problems we already have (GK, CB, DM) let alone the additional problems we will bring upon ourselves by selling Ramsey, Ozil etc.

I’m hoping Arteta leads us back to glory.
But he is going to be under a lot of pressure? He arrives at a team in 6th place, and to a fan base that has been divided, impatient, and agitated over the last 5 years. He also comes in a context where Premier League managers are under tremendous pressure - even the great Allardicci lost his job for finishing 8th with an Everton team that should not be aiming higher than 6th realistically. So if Arteta fumbles early, the fans and media alike will put him under pressure.
Who do we turn to then, especially if we need to fire him midseason? Allegri isn’t leaving Juventus in January.

I’m sure Arteta presents a great vision for the team. But I want to know how he would react when we are down 2-0 at the Bridge, or when Benitez changes defensive formation twice in a half. Or when we on a 4 game losing streak and need to shake shit up. Do you have a model for what will happen then?
