I think Arteta will be the cheapest option out of all the names linked to us as he knows the managing a team as big us Arsenal as a first job is an education he couldn't get anywhere else.
I'm kind of warming to him especially when i heard that, as a player, he wasn't too pally pally with his colleagues.
I also think an established manager will definitely clash with the power invested in Gazidis, Mislintat and Sanllehi.
Their input also reduces the risk of him floundering like Moyes during the many challenges we are bound to face while upgrading the shitty squad Wenger has left behind.
Already Gaz is ahead as he managed to get Sven and Raul.
He and Sven has also worked well together closing the deal for Aubameyang (a player Wenger would never have pushed for due to his age and attitude in forcing Dortmund to sell) and i'm hoping Raul is just as good.

There are a few positives in the idea of Arteta, but anyone who thinks it's not a pretty risky scheme is kidding themselves.

There are just so many situations in coaching, from dressing room conflicts to injury holocausts to players' personal dramas, that he will never have experienced from the position of having to solve them, as opposed to rise above them.

Not sure I agree with that, but I do hope the new structure is as assertive at the club as it seems to want to be—and I include sacking and replacing the new manager in that.

If Wenger can have a decade to slowly fuck it up I'm willing to give Egg-Man a few seasons.

I'd argue that Gazidis has already had a decade to slowly fuck it up given it took him until last year to actually consider restructuring the club for life after Wenger...

Me thinks it probably took McVay to Rams for Stan to even begin to contemplate that changing the manager might actually improve things rather than retaining the status quo.

That's true, but we now seem to have a structure in place where not every single aspect of running the club is in the hands of the manager. I expect Arteta will be more like a contentinental style coach rather than a British type manager. It's a gamble, but if the other staff is solid and has a vision the guy who is in charge of the first team can focus mostly on tactics and man management.

TBH I doubt the 2nd season failure alone would have been enough for Kroenke to support replacing AW and I think the empty seats was the straw that broke the camels' back. But I think Stan was willing to consider the idea of replacing AW because of the success of McVay to show that change can be good. The nature of the failure to regain top4 and the empty seats tipped the scales in favour of taking action.

Another article that says our Summer budget is 50m. I find that really hard to believe but it would go some way to explain why we're going for a budget option.

That article stated that senior players were involved in the recruitment process, before they obviously realised that there’s a limit to how much of their bs people will swallow and retracted it. Imagine, hiring your own manager.

To be fair we made a net profit this season despite buying Lacazette, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang and Kolasinac, so a £50 million transfer kit might still go a long way.

My guess is that we'll focus on selling players who aren't up to code, like Xhaka and Mustafi. There's still value in them that would go a long way to pay for their replacements. We should be able to get a few million out of Lucas and Joel Campbell too, and maybe Ospina.

Swiss Ramble and the Arsenal Supporters Trust each had a good look at our finances and independently both came up with a figure of about £70m as a budget for this summer.

But, as you say Klaus, plenty of room for manoeuvre with what we can rake in by shifting the players that aren't good enough. Although, I'm pretty sure Joel Campbell is out of contract this summer so we'll get nothing for him.

The media are doing the same thing with their "£50m is all Arsenal have to spend!!!" line as when they lie to the fans about us sitting on some mountain of money with "£200m" in the cash reserves. A lot the fans have fallen for that rubbish over the years and they're cashing in on their anger (and ignorance) now with this nonsense.
