Interesting names and none of them seem like an obvious pick, at least none that Gazidis would make by himself. To be fair to ballbag he got Aubameyang right before anyone else I think, might be something in this seems too leftfield to be random guesses

The newspapers never have a clue. There are guys like Ornstein, who gets spoonfed info because the club can rely on him to tweet exactly what they want, and the rest of them are in the dark. If a single one of them had a good source then Wenger's departure wouldn't have been such a surprise to everyone.

I think RC8's insider info in this thread is the most likely suggestion yet. I'm gonna stick a fiver on Pellegrini too (thanks for the reminder Tam). And a tenner on him to get the Chelsea job.

I meant to do that myself. I had a look and think he was about 33/1 for Chelsea. Thanks for the reminder Klaus!

I think Wenger can take a lot of blame here. He stuck with the likes of Peyton despite stories for years our GKs did not like working with him. There was even talk they preferred working with our youth GK coach over Peyton.

Same applies to the fitness guy Colbert, many blamed our injury woes on how he prepared teams in pre-season and our injury record was among the worst in the league. Again up until recently nothing was done to rectify this despite all these internal investigations. When RvP got fit again I remember reading he worked with his own guy who had him a special programme.

Being loyal to your staff is admirable but not when it is to the detriment of the club.

Smells like BS to me. Guy isn't going to ditch Liverpool (and Klopp) at this stage of the season. There's obviously a genuine reason for his absence.

edit: just to reinforce the point I made yesterday, he's the new favorite with the bookies. Wouldn't surprise me if the bookies themselves leaked these stories to make a bit of money.
