The big names are probably going to want to be manager (i.e. head coach and head personnel director). We don't need a manager; we just need a first team head coach. We already have all the infrastructure in place to handle everything else. This is why I really hope we get Arteta. Some separation of concerns between coaching and recruitment is the way forward for the club. Hopefully they don't fuck it up.

One does not necessarily follow the other. If the club are committed to maintaining a relatively frugal budget, it makes all the more sense to invest heavily in the manager.

Arteta would be interesting for sure. Jardim also knows what it is to work under a technical director, one of the best directors in the game is at Monaco.

To be honest most coaches outside of England are used to this set up. So hopefully the lines will not be so blurred as they have been here recently.

In all seriousness, I think the club will be mindful of appointing someone who will divide fans again and going for someone inexperienced, even a former favourite, will do just that. Need someone that everyone will give the benefit of the doubt.

Jardim probably fits the bill best. Plays entertaining football on a budget. Is fairly young, but not too much so. Can bring Fabinho. As ohboy says, is used to working under a director.

Fully agree. It’s easy to boast about the clubs values when things are going well but it means nothing if you can’t stick to them when things are more uncertain.
