I'd be pretty bitter if I got kicked out of my current job too - and I've only been here a month.

I do think, in the end, Wenger's too emotionally invested in his project and it'll probably be good for his career that he's forced to go away and do something different.

I can't recall many managers ever admitting they were to blame for the clubs problems. Keegan may be the exception, though I'm pretty sure he had some sort of complex.

Stuart Pearce did in that famous Middlesbrough interview didn't he? Of course he also said that his players should apologise to their children for being abject failures and that they should feel ashamed when they look into the mirror but he did admit wrongdoing too.

Phil auclair says wenger was 'furious' about stepping down when he spoke to him. Yikes

Pinch of salt, when has Auclair ever had any insider info on Arsenal?

Oooow dear. Everything y va said is coming to pass. Wenger wonā€™t lap up the ā€œgreat send offā€ us previously disgruntled fans will offer. Heā€™s gonna to flip. A young boy sitting in the stands behind the dugout will say ā€œall the best Arseneā€ and heā€™ll react by throttling him before being led away by men in white coats

Of course he was.
Seriously guys how or why did you think this end would be some nicely wrapped up affair, where over the course of the next few games he warmly smiled and waved his way out to chants of "one Arsene Wenger"?

If it feels bad that it's ending like this it's because it is.
But it is ended and next season we can all move on.

Exactly. Mountains out of molehills.

Well he said he spoke with him yesterday, so there's that

Meh, you don't really need Auclair to tell you that anyway, he's clearly upset at having to part ways and Gazidis' press conference was quite telling too.

When you look at all the various statements made through the season and after him stepping down, it seems like the theory many of us had was spot on. He was told last summer that his position would be reviewed at the end of the season and he's clearly not had any encouragement on staying on since then. I actually think he would have gone even if he gotten us top 4. In fact, I think their hope was his pedigree in that area would have helped us achieve exactly that, giving any new manager a good platform to build on.

I reckon they thought splashing out on a Ā£50m striker last summer was gonna help sort things too.

I'd be surprised too if the backroom staff didn't change. I reckon Bould might still be assistant manager next season to ease the transition with the players though.

Yeah they'll definitely keep a few people around, even if it is for a year just to ensure a smooth transition. Imagine if it is someone from abroad he'll probably have little knowledge about a lot of our players and will take him a good few weeks to build that up. Also with this summer's pre-season being interrupted due to the World cup and an early season start meaning less time for the new man.

Remember David Moyes got rid of a lot of coaching staff even though Fergie advised him to keep a few around to help smooth things over. Then again Moyes support staff was a bunch of amateurs like him.

Would be hilarious if Primorac managed to stick around.

Wow, this piece is absolutely full of the contradictions that have been so infuriating over the past many seasons. The lack of real accountability, or rather, nearly total accountability alongside the lack of it. I wish him well but I'm glad he's leaving, his mentality has gotten twisted over the years.

The common thread in all his delusions is that he seems to be believe he is doing charitable work and doing us all a favour by gracing us with his presence, but in reality he makes more money in a year than most people make in their lifetime because of TV and ticket money we fork out. Good riddance.
