i literally said 'oh fuck off' when i read that headline yesterday
Jeremy Wilson still reporting our interest in Yacine Adli, wonder if his info is out of date or if we still have hopes of signing him. Hasn't signed with PSG yet either as far as I know.
Fuck Adli and him turning his nose up at London and the Arsenal FFS.
What if he didn't?
Yeah but it's cathartic.
If we have money left for either a winger or a CB, what do we want? I honestly don't know.
Depends on who it is. Unless we’re talking about someone like Dembele or Martial then I’d probably go for a centre back.
I personally think we’re done though. We’ve signed Steven, Sokratis, Torreira and Leno for roughly £65m and there are no obvious candidates who may leave that will raise a significant amount of cash for a big signing bar maybe Mustafi, in which case we’d probably need a centre back. If Aaron goes, I’d rather we spent the money on a winger, but I think he’ll sign a new deal.
Gelson for free though?
If we can get Sokratis, Caglar, Torreira, Banega, and Gelson in, whisky shopping a few like Cech, Mustafi, Lucas, Joel then it’s a good summer window
No marquee player but we were spoilt with Aubameyang don’t forget
This windows been pragmatic, but it doesn't exactly say to the world that we're gunning for the title. It's more like, watch out, we're threatening to be competent in 18/19!
I suspect that we may try for a marquee signing of sorts in attack if we lose one or both of Rambo and/or Ozil, but I don't expect it to be anyone who shines brightly at the WC and we may look to loan with an option to buy. I've got no basis to this and it's as much a wish list type of thing as anything.

Was anyone expecting a "we're gunning for the title" window though? We'd have to spend a couple of hundred million for that realistically.
We had a massive clean-up task in the last two windows. The guys have gotten to work and are doing just that. We got our two biggest signings in January - keeping Ozil and securing Obama. Mkhitaryan was another big coup. Now we just need to get players who are fit for purpose in this window. Get proper defenders, midfielders and goalkeepers - things we have been asking for the last 3 or for 4 years. This is enough to aim for 2nd to be fair.
Trying to get back into the top 4 is the right thing to do. When we're there we have more money, can attract better players and it's at that time we should have a "gunning for the title" window.
Yeah, really enjoying Sven and co's pro-activeness in the market - 4 signings already in the midst of a World Cup is brilliant. You can tell these guys are proper professional people who ain't fucking about and just want to get shit done. Far cry from the Wenger and Dick Law duopoly of hell.
Well, yeah - even when United spend £300m for two summers in a row after they fell out of the top 4 it didn't get them anywhere close to the title. The gap is too big to close in a summer (or even two summers tbh).

It's refreshing to see our business getting done before the start of the season nevermind the transfer deadline day.
Agree - I didn't expect any signings to be made by this stage but the decisiveness has been extremely refreshing. It also bodes well that if the players brought in don't perform, they'll be moved on and replaced.

Well... all business must be completed prior to the start of the season for English teams at least.
Loving Svenllehi.
