Alonso is an appalling defender. Good going the other way but still hampered by his lack of pace.

He has a good shot on him and scores often for a full back. Painfully slow though and no real defensive awareness

Massive piece of shit obviously but I don't think people realise how much of a dirty prick he is. Constantly gets away with elbows stamps or being a second "late"

He’s not the player he used to be. Was always a bit slow to begin with but now he’s gone and lost a step, and it now affects his all round game.

Dules would say: Old n busted

Plus Conte's not exactly done wonders for his confidence.

Monreal had one of his best seasons since joining us, deservedly picked nothing shocking. Pretty fair squad.

Nainggolan left out is a bit weird.

i would say its a bit more than weird.  It goes to show you why Belgium won't win anything with Roberto Martinez as a manager.  He should be in the starting lineup much less just "in the squad".  Some BS about "he works well in a specific system but we can't play that system" or something...  blah blah blah..  Fellaini...  BENTEKE (yes, i know, a forward)...  Janusaj...   Witsel..  i mean, freakin Nacer Chadli..    this guy has literally lost his marbles

Absolutely love that Monreal is going over 4 Chelsea players including Fabregas. Deserves the callup after the last 2 seasons and can play across the defence so very useful squad option.

Gotta love Mauro Icardi being left out of Argentina's squad after scoring 29 league goals this season.

At least Icardi has a chance to divide the locker room, the Naingolan snub is all down to Martinez’s ego

At least Argentina has a surplus of attacking talent and the manager can fashion a story.
Belgium? This is the guy tutoring Henry?

He's been fairly shit for the latter half of the season despite the odd goal and assist. Guys a defensive liability most of the time. Still I like him and I'm glad he's going even though I think its a poor decision.

Finding it difficult to support England these days with the team being largely made up of Spurs players. Expect we'll be bundled out inside a week again like the last World Cup in any case.

If Kane has a bad world cup I think this could be the time for the press to turn on him. His honeymoon period is over.

He's not as strong defensively as in the past, but still much better in that aspect than Alonso.

Oh yeah but Alonso barely gets back into his own half.

Southgate picks Kane as England's captain. 😆 bloke still must think he's playing fantasy footy. It's impressive how the FA keeps coming up with these inbreds in top positions you would've thought the law of averages dictated by now England would find a half decent coach.

I guess that means Southgate won't bench Kane and play Vardy in his place no matter how much he stinks it up.

In fairness - who would you pick? The younger/unknown picks aren't guaranteed to play every game while the older players are just plain average and will probably be rotated.

Apart from Kane and Sterling, every other position should be up for grabs

The captain role is overrated anyway, though I can't imagine it'll help Kane who completely froze up in the Euros last time.
