Aubameyang is in the Harry Kane bracket of guaranteed goals. 2-3 seasons of that is worth it. We need every bit of super quality we can get. And, yes, get your Malcoms as well while you’re at it, but please hang this squad around some super quality
here is my counterpoint to that argument. auba turns 29 in june. given that his pace is so important to his game, how many more top seasons does he have left? 3? are we just one striker away from challenging for the league or europe?
right now, i think we need to demolish the entire house, to be honest. there are about 15 first team players that should not be part of our next title winning team, and really shouldnt even be part of our next team to make the top 4. we should clean out all of the garbage. we should be looking at the best of the best in the 20-23 age bracket all across the pitch. we should pay what is required. we should start by rebuilding the spine of the team, starting at GK and moving to CB and then CM. if we could control the midfield effectively, i think lacazette would get more chances than he is currently getting. if we had legitimate width, i think it would give lacazette more space to operate in.
i guess im just really bummed out. signing auba won't change the fortunes of our team. we have a leaky, busted goalkeeper, zero reliable defenders, and 1 really good CM who has ankles made of wet paper. and we're about to lose 2 of our best players because they ran down their contracts.
