looking at his highlights, it's notable how really don't lay on the type of chances he got at dortmund. all our strikers end up isolated with their back to goal, having a shitfight with 2 neanderthals. i'm already miffed at how we're going to misuse him

Probably the kind of striker we have needed for ages, but of course we're getting him at a time when we are losing Sanchez and thereby significantly weakening the team. A proper manager would be adding Auba to a team that still included Sanchez and Ozil.

Works both ways. We don’t have strikers or wingers who make those runs consistently either.

And when Özil leaves we'll finally see the club sign the DM we've needed for the last 10 years.

That's what I was thinking watching that. Giroud makes similar runs and has that sense of finding space, get in front of the defender, etc but he's slow so it's not quite as effective.

It's strange how people think chances are created solely by the creativity of the provider. Aubameyang gets into goalscoring positions not only because he has quality behind him, but also because of his excellent movement and instincts.

Yeah, having a striker who actually runs makes such a big difference. I've seen so many midfielders complain about slow strikers who'll never get on the end of a ball, even if the opening is there. They're left to choose between either hitting a pass that can't connect or just ignoring it altogether. Football is simple; movement is hard.

Laca was also known for his good movement. I can count the quality chances we've laid on for him on one hand. PEA is a cut above him i believe, but we have a recent track record of misusing players, or forcing them to play them out of position. I hope auba, if he does come, can inspire some kind of sea change in our attacking approach

Laca's running has never been sensational in my opinion, I said as much before we signed him. He's not awful by any means, but it's never been a standout aspect of his game.

On another note, I really hope we play them up top together.

----------- Wilshere

--Mkhitaryan ------ Ramsey

------------- Ozil

---- Lacazette --Aubameyang

Could be pretty great. Sit a little deeper so we're not overly exposed then break with 5 great runners and Jack/Mesut pulling the strings.

I'm really struggling to see the point of buying Auba and Mkhi or how they'll fix any of the glaring issues present in our defence and midfield. We might score more goals and be more enjoyable to watch though.

As for how they'll fit in, there's no way Wenger will bench the £50m striker he signed this summer and Mkhi will probably start. Likely options are:

442 like in 2008, Auba and Laca up top with Ozil and Mkhi out wide. We seriously lack a mobile ball-winner in the Flamini mould though.

Return to Wenger's preferred 4231 with 2 creators (Ozil behind, Mkhi on the left) and 2 strikers (Auba up top, Laca on the right). Any midfield we put out would be porous though.

Either way it signals the end of 3ATB imo, you can't fit Ozil, Auba, Laca, and Mkhi onto the pitch with three centre halves.

Same people who think being caught offside is always the forwards fault when its often because the pass wasn't timed correctly.

Can't believe there are people complaining that we are getting Aubameyang + Mikhitaryan. Just 1 year ago it would have been a dream come true. Not to mention we are actually cushioning the loss of Alexis much better than I expected

Aubameyang is a dream signing IMO. Mhikitaryan is not at all.

Getting Miki + fee for Alexis who would otherwise walk away free is okay from business standpoint.

Have a horrible feeling Wenger will treat Aubameyang as a like for like replacement for Sanchez, i.e wide left or just behind in the duel 10 role.

I have a feeling he's going to compete with Lacazette for the lone striker spot.

Mhikit would not be the worst signing for us. I think he has something to his game that can be useful if he's being used the proper way. I dont think the style that Jose plays allows for that very much. Not to mention, he's played with Aub in the past.

I dont hate the idea in general. If we keep Ozil and have Jack available, its not the worst forward lineup i've seen. Especially with Laca there as well. God rid of Theo, and please get rid of Welbz.. Sanchez will be gone. We could use one more forward signing in the summer (not likely to get 3 forward players in January) as well as a couple other key positions.. (CB, CM, maybe GK).. eh, im dreaming, we wont get all those players

I'm gonna be so mad if I don't get my Aubameyang.
