ive been trying to understand the rationale for this transfer and ive come up with a few scenarios, and all of them are fucking dumb
wenger thinks this season is salvageable (making a run at winning the europa league or finishing 4th) so he is prioritizing getting a player back for alexis instead of cash. and since mkh is not cup tied, he would be a good option to try and win the europa league. mkh is garbage though, so this seems odd.
wenger feels like there is no one available for £30m or less that is as good as mkh, so he needs to take the player. this seems like a bad argument.
wenger really rates mkh and thinks he'll improve the team from alexis. this seems wildly naive and dumb.
wenger doesn't care about getting cash back instead of mkh, because hes worried he'll be pushed out of the club before he has a chance to spend that money in the summer. given wenger's apparent insecurities and issues, i wouldnt completely doubt this, but i still dont think there is an appetite at the board level to push him out before his contract expires.
this just doesnt make any sense. mkh has flopped at united. his contract ends in june 2020 and hes on £150,000 per week now, which would make him the highest paid player at arsenal if he signs here for the same wage. and he probably wants a raise. that is fucking insanity. he should not be making more than ozil or even someone like ramsey.
we should be requesting cash for alexis. end of story.
