On retrospect, Gooneric, we messed up the Sanchez situation in the summer. Once we made the conditional transfer to City possible and failed with the Lemar bid, I think we created a monster. We should have taken a stance in the summer and delivered on it. Either we are keeping the player to the end and not entertaining offers, or we are selling him that summer. We somehow vacillated that summer and throughout. I think that has created incredible instability. The player has a taste for greener pastures and is actively pushing to go. Teams know that we will eventually submit because we have created this poisonous situation for ourselves. It’s mismanagement
I wish we had a foreign suitor, but again, we have allowed Sanchez to negotiate with United and establish a ridiculous market value that few will want to match, so we’ve cornered ourselves there. As a fan first and businessman second, my ideal would be talking him into going to Bayern, Real, PSG, etc, even if it means a fee of only 20m
