Yeah, his designation everywhere has read Head Scout but it's almost as if he is playing the role of Director of Football.

Getting the right players in is one thing, but to release players that weren't the right fit in one window alone will be brilliant.

Yeah it sure seems positive right now with so many strong links around. Feels like we'll sign 2 or more players. Could just be hype but at least its a glimmer of hope.

Exactly, hopefully it will spread some ambition around the club.

Top players are no secret, and the majority of players with “star potential”, most football fans have heard of.

We just do not back ourselves in the transfer market whatsoever. We have dithered badly , and made stupid decisions at other times, hopefully now there are signs that hints things maybe changing.

I don't even like Mkhitaryan but I want him here just so we can stop this shit show already. Get it over with.

Well the Sanchez deal has to be agreed before there's any movement on auba, based on how we usually operate. And the Sanchez deal apparently hinges on a swap deal which may not work out

What bothers me more about all of this is the fact that 16 days into the window we haven't brought anyone of note in considering our form and where we are in the table. There is no attempt to go and buy a quality player regardless of if we manage to sell an existing squad member or not. We lack ambition and will. I am not saying Sanchez is going to re-evaluate his position but give the others some confidence, the club and fans a lift by just spending money on a talented player and pushing others to extend or those on the fringes to go because it only puts them further down in the order.

Everton close to agreement with Arsenal to sign Theo Walcott for in excess of £20m. #EFC football/financial offer beat rivals. Likely played last #AFC game (397 apps, 108 goals). Money to go towards transfers - Aubameyang/Malcom + Mkhitaryan (Sanchez swap), unlikely to get all 3

Walcott is out 100%. That's good news.
And it's one of Auba or Malcom. Not both. And Mkhi if it works out. Could be worse...

Another way to look at it is that this is the first time in like a decade that he's had any help. This club has been run like a circus and everything has been his responsibility ever since David Dein left. No manager hates fresh legs and better players, but it's easy to see why he dislikes the January window so much when he's expected to handle this on top of the most congested fixture schedule of the entire season.

I’m not a big fan of Mkhi but not good enough? He’s still much better than what we have.

I’ve seen one theory that suggests we want Mkh and Auba to link up again, where they any good together?

Theo, Giroud and Sanchez out for 50m, Auba and Malcom in for 70m.

Lots of rumours (granted, none with any basis) that he's at loggerheads with the club hierarchy (including Sven) - wants to keep Walcott, prefers Lemar to Malcom and so on. The fact that everything is his responsibility is because of him and not because the club management decided to overload him to save some money. He has actively resisted, and publicly so, any talk around putting any support structure in place and has gone out of his way to minimize the importance of the new hires. That doesn't feel like someone welcoming support to me.

That ignores his actions over far too many summers though.
