Akpom was good, yeah. Nketiah made the game worth it on his own though. I'm thrilled for the kid. He was completely unknown 50 minutes ago and now he's trending 7th World Wide on Twitter. These kind of narratives are what still make the league cup worth watching.

I liked the look of Nketiah whenever I've seen him. Quick and technically very consistent on the ball. Doesn't hurt to actually score goals for the senior team too.

Giroud is in dire form. Looks weak, poor positioning and movement and a poor touch. Needs to be much better at holding the ball up and offering himself up as an option.

I was laughed at in pre-season when I suggested it but I actually thought Walcott looked half decent when he switched to a wing back role. Not 140k decent but I reckon he wouldn't drive me mad out there like he did for the majority of the game.

Jack still looks like he's about 40yrs old out there and it wasn't really coming off for him tonight.

Iwobi was terrible when he wasn't running with the ball, the execution of his passes and shots really need to improve.

In any case both Jack and Iwobi had really poor games.

Coq was basically playing in the final third. I don't mind him pressing high up but get the fuck back when we have the ball and let Jack go forward.

I had a quick look at the line ups of the other big teams that are playing tonight : City are playing both Aguero and Jesus upfront and have the likes of De Bruijne, Sane, Stones etc on the bench. Man United have Lukaku, Matic, Mkhitaryan and Mata on the bench. These are all players regularly playing CL football

These are also teams that played on Saturday. We played Sunday thanks to our participation in the European Carabao Cup. Wenger did the right thing in resting all our main players, not even putting them on the bench.

Nice one Eddie! That was a fun game. Should've scored 3 in extra time, comfortable in the end.

And that dive was never a peno compared to what their players were doing all game long, flying in to tackles like it was going out of style. Could've been a straight red in there somewhere if it were another ref.

Giroud was really poor, Coquelin is limited, and Jack might as well be the Tin Man he's so rusty. Wish Nelson would be played as an attacker, talent is wasted out there on the wing.

Yep, you could probably have solved half of the problems with tonight's starting eleven just by playing Nelson and Maitland-Niles in their proper positions. This is the hallmark of a Wenger team nowadays.

He was blaming the quality of the Cup ball as the main reason they almost lost the match. Guy has fucked my fantasy team thrice now, he always don't start whoever I picked. Idiot.

It's a pity we don't have enough squad depth to form 2 teams with all players in their natural position. But I would play something like this going forward, sick of watching shit attacking players that has no potential upsides.
