I've always rated his talent but possibly subconsciously had him pinned more as a player for the future, but after tonight, no more.
I was really stunned by his performance. Watching it on TV it looked sometimes as if he were the only player we had in MF, driving forward, winning back possession, picking out the right pass, never looked to be running out of energy or belief.

He said in the post match interview that it was the best day he'd experienced as an Arsenal player, well he should be proud because on his best day it was, in my eyes, his best performance as an Arsenal player.

So great to have 19 year old Wilshere and 20 year old Ches as regulars in this side. Both there on merit and both capable of becoming the best in the world in their respective positions.

Every time this kid scales new heights I think back to a fortnight before the start of the season when I kept saying "yeah, he'll probably make a handful of appearances in the right forward position - wouldn't be a good move by Wenger to overexpose him at this stage of his development".

I was completely wrong. He is top, top class at the highest level of football.

He really is a great little player, so mature, excellent feet.

Don't see many English players looking as good as that so young, I think it's a real possibility he'll be a future England Captain.

I love his attitude. Him, Nasri and Cesc have that touch of arrogance about them. There's not a single ounce of doubt in their minds that they belong at this sort of level.

What's the ceiling with this guy? He's already so, so good, for me better than Cesc at the same age. How much better is he going to get?

Its actually mind boggling that he's only 19 and has only been playing regular top level for a year now. Trying to figure out how good he'll be is just scary really.

Future ballon d'Or winner. They usually don't give it to players on his position but I think he'll get it at some point.

He won't get it. Not because he can't warrant it, but he won't.

His ceiling is basically where he is now with some goals and extra strength.

Doesn't quite have Cesc's internal simulator for the miracle pass but every other aspect of his game, including his maturity, is integrated into an amazing package for a 19 year old.

Has more to his arsenal than Cesc had at his age, he can tackle and drift past players with ease.

Can someone post one of those youtube montage for Wilshere Vs Barca when its available? so many highlights. There was that one deft feathertouch pass to RvP in the second half which was unreal

Tonight was the first time I've seen him and thought that could be true. Not sure he has as much ability as Cesc, but I think he's going to be a more compact and consistent player. He has a range of ways of effecting games, even down to his ability to organize and defend, which has always been slightly lacking with Fabregas.

Two years ago I would have agreed, or even last year. But if someone like Iniesta can finish third then Wilshere stands a chance at least. Depends a lot of England's future whereabouts too, I suppose.

That's exactly it, Iniesta got mentioned almost purely on the basis of scoring the winner in the world cup. Ronaldo and Messi will carve it up between them for the next 4-5 years and then another scorer will come into the limelight.

He wont get it because he plays in England.

He has everything in his locker though. When you look at his ability to run a game, to break up play, to pick a killer pass, to skip past people and think all of that can improve plus he can become stronger and he will add goals to his game, we've seen that at reserve level. I think he could be one of Arsenal and Englands all time greatest player. Possibly Englands best player since the World Cup winning side. I think he has the ability to take England far too, if the teams set up right around him. By the 2016 European championships he could be the best player in the world.

It's very doubtful that he will be better than a 28 year old Messi.
