tbh this is one of the more enjoyable Champions league seasons.

Enjoyable maybe, but, in my opinion, the quality has been on a downward trend for a number of seasons now.

As irritating as Liverpool fans are, I'm glad things have been freshened up. Sick of seeing the same teams and ties played year after year.

I don't mind that tbh. If we had this every season then it would be annoying but after nearly a decade of Rolls Royce football from Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern it's good to see them show cracks in their armour.

Like jones said, Real are on for a 4th Champions League trophy in 5 years, and this is while Zidane is being questioned as a manager by a big portion of their fanbase.

The second leg of the Champions League quarter finals were great, but it doesn't feel like anything has changed when it comes down to it.

I'll take a drop off in the "quality" in exchange for some new blood and story lines.

The Real Madrid, Barca and Bayern domination has got old, and I'd like to see a few teams work their way back in.

I think a drop in quality is a good thing, a more competitive competition was been lacking over the last few years. Just so long as some knobs like PSG or City don’t take advantage of the vacuum and try and buy their way into dominance.

I get that Barca was knocked out by Roma, but Bayern getting knocked out by Real doesn't tell us anything about the end of a cycle. They're both giants, and one of them had to go out.

Okay so maybe Zidane is actually quite good. You'd think opposition defences wouldn't get caught out with these same 2v2 / long pass plays so often but they seem to be able to generate them every game.

You can't have won the CL twice and be on the verge of a final for a 3rd time (all back to back) without being a decent manager, regardless of the quality of your squad.

5 games early on without Ronaldo and realcompletely dropped off the title race domestically. Even with that squad.
Can't judge these managers much when they have these super squads with super players at their disposal.

What Arsedoc said. People underestimate squad quality. Even Moyes could win something with that squad.

Maybe. But he wouldn't get them to 3 CL finals in a row. I personally think there are certain managers that specialise in getting the absolute maximum out of even the most elite of elite squads , but may not be capable of developing a limited/young team. Every joe blow isn't capable of motivating an elite squad to stay hungry and consistent over a period of years

Yeah, Zidane is becoming the new Ancelotti. He has also never been knocked out of the CL yet either.

I don't think it'll be easy for Liverpool if they face Real in the final. Real's experience might be the thing that pushes them over the edge yet again. As Ric Flair says: "to be the man, you gotta beat the man".

I actually rate Marcelo as the best LB ever. In terms of his attacking input nobody comes close to him at all. A very complete player. His first touch yesterday was disgusting.
