I started watching but I can't be fussed about Champions League if we're not in it. Juve, Real and Bayern are such inherently unlikeable clubs.
It's a good game. It's the group stages that are dull.
Why are those clubs so unlikable to you? For me Bayern and Juve have too much historical dominance in their respective leagues. It's almost rigged. They don't like, want or allow proper competition. Real are the same historically but Barça make it different.
Didn't you watch Juve v Spurs?
I did watch Juve v Spurs, mostly because I had money riding on it and nothing else to do. I still watch CL games occasionally. I just find these big club clashes a bit disgusting. Nothing really changes in football. The same power structures that are present in the leagues exist in Europe too, and they still enable the same clubs after all these years.
I find it hard in particular to stomach how Juventus, a team that has been caught redhanded in more doping and match-fixing scandals than anyone else in history, are being hailed by people as 'a dark horse' that could potentially break up the last 10 years of dominance where Bayern, Barca and Real have divided the CL trophies between themselves. And I'm equally disgruntled over how teams like PSG and City - built through literally destroying the sport for everyone else - are considered fresh and interesting just because they rock the old power structures by introducing new ones.
Each to their own though. I'm sure there are people who are having the time of their lives watching this.
