The big problem with Mbappe is that first half he just seemed absent from the game. He got involved a bit more in the second half, but his shots were weak, an he didn’t look as confident taking on defenders. Just not the man we’ve come to love and all craved at the Emirates the last two years.

So City and Pool are through. Spurs well-poised. United should do a job. Very likely that we get 3, maybe as many as 4 English teams in the QFs.

An English team will win it this year.

My money would be on City.

I can see City drawing United this year.

We are so far off the quality of the teams left in the Champs League

That's the most depressing thing when watching CL knockout matches.

I really enjoyed madrid vs psg tonight, but I kept saying to myself that we're miles off this lot.

That’s nothing new. We probably will always be.

Sad watching Mbappé shunted out to the right wing, almost as an after thought, whilst Neymar tried to dribble 5 men every time he got the ball. And then Draxler thrown on with 5 minutes to go.

Money is ruining it all!

It's coaching. Watching that Liverpool team tonight shoud confirm that for anyone who had any doubts. No way should that team be out performing us the way it is.

Emery made the same mistake again, being too conservative (trying to take the draw and that Meunier-Cavani sub) while Madrid went for it. Emery seems to have a coward/small club mentality; he's going to get sacked if they don't advance.

Yep. Same for Spurs, nothing to do with money. A good coach is more important than ever in recent years.

Liverpool's attack really is phenomenal. Salah already have 30 goals, when was the last time we had a goalscorer like this since Henry? RVP only did it for 1 season before leaving. That's also Porto heaviest home defeat in their history.

A good coach can often make up for injuries or sale of top players. Coutinho was their best player and they didn't miss him at all. Spurs often perform well evven when key players are injured. For us, once someone is injured we go to pieces.

That's because they both have clearly defined systems whereas our lads are just told to go kick it about for 90 minutes.

I just want a new manager. It's tiring doing the same thing season after season. I really can't do it anymore.

Me too. It's totally depressing how bad we are and watching our rivals tear it up in Europe. Was never supposed to be like this.

I really think things will start to move quickly in the right direction with a new appointment.

So long as Wenger remains in charge.

5 days later

Giroud on the bench 😆

Poor guy.

Really feel like it was an odd move for him. Would have thought after the frustration of not playing that would have been his priority.

The English teams are really spoiling the knockouts for me. How dare they ruin the best thing about football!? 🙂

I can tolerate Chelsea tonight because I get to watch Barcelona, hopefully, give them a bit of a beating, but the only other game that's got me excited has been the Madrid-PSG game - and that was great fun. 5 God damn English teams is too many! Especially when we're not one of them! 😆

Heard so much this season about Umtiti being top drawer so interested to get a good look at him tonight.

He’s one of the best in Europe this season, Ricky.
Really jealous that Chelsea have both Hazard and Will.I.an. Both men can take on defenders and make a shot out of nothing. Would be nice to have that type of improvisation in our frontline.
Barca seem confused up front.

Willian is terribly unlucky today 😆
