james from gunnerblog reckons this is still possible. prefer lemar tbh

I think it's still a game of options and priorities, possibly influenced by whom ever becomes available first and for what price, as well as what action we see with outgoing players.

The links to Lemar look more solid so sounds like he is more of a backup option. Unless Wenger wants to sign both and a forward to completely change our front three dynamic!

I'm more inclined to think it is either Lemar or Mahrez. It is good we have a backup option if that is the case. Same with Mbappe & Lacazette, if by hook or crook we manage to sign Mbappe then I think we will drop our interest in Lacazette. That is the way it should be, need to make sure we keep our options open. Too many times we have put all our eggs in one basket and have ended up with nothing.

might be a reason this link has resurfaced, with monaco rejecting our lemar bid

would align with gunnerblogs info. there seems to have been some buzz about it on the main leicester fan forum the last few days as well

i still like mahrez but only as an addition to what we have. if he's replacing a sanchez or ozil, it's a poor signing

Says it's just interest for the moment, nothing more. Guy know Mahrez personally apparently.

Would have to think he is 2nd or 3rd option. Should be a pretty easy deal to secure.

I'm in the minority but id love us to sign Mahrez. Proper flair player and would be great for when we have teams penned in

I like Mahrez as well. Gives Shad a good project, too, with those twiggy legs.

It's all fine as long as we don't lose our two best players.

You want him to take the role of starting every other cup game?

Ultimately that's why this would be pointless. He's either replacing Sanchez/Ozil or he's coming in as a backup. Unlike Lemar he's not one for the future either.

Mahrez, Lacazette, Sanchez and Ozil is a good front 3 or 4 as you will. I would happily take that into next season.

Goon not do as Lucas was but rather take his spot in the squad. If we are to improve we should have options like him

Our bench is weak. Mahrez strengthens it.

Fuck it. Let's sign Lacazette and Mahrez. Let's get Yoann Gourcuff and Hatem Trabelsi too while we're at it. I'm sure they're still on Wenger's watch list. Yaya is available too. Now would be the perfect time to get him when he moves around like a refridgerator that is being dragged behind a tractor on a newly ploughed potato field.

What an absolute shower of shit this summer is.

----Lacazette-----
Mahrez--------Ozil

5th place here we come.

Mahrez creates bucketloads of chances and isn't afraid to shoot, but honestly, we could have Lemar easily if we put in a proper bid.

If Mahrez can get back to the form a year ago, it's fantastic business for us. Why didn't we push harder for him last season though?

mahrez is a quality player, just not as a replacement for alexis or ozil. technical ability like his doesn't grow on trees, and i think he'd be hungry to do well after a down season

-----------Lacazette
Sanchez------Ozil------Mahrez
-------Xhaka---Jorginho

Yeah this is where it's at.

He wasn't even that bad, had a number of class performances in the CL especially in the latter stages. Leicester struggled as a whole which affected his game as well

I'd rather Lemar but Mahrez would be a great addition, knows the league well and would be immediately ready to perform. Can't see a position for him in our 3-4-2-1 though

He'd have to play behind the striker, I'd imagine. Sanchez role.

Both Leicester and Arsenal's "ITKs" are in agreement tonight - done deal at £28m.

Would be a very good fee - their fans are fuming over it - but he's not a player I'd be jumping up and down over should this come to fruition.

Wenger wanted him last summer too so hopefully he's pretty confident about what he can get from him. I've my doubts about his attitude though. Could have pushed for this move last summer but instead coasted for Leicester and had a pretty bad season.

alternate take: he might have felt indebted to leicester for bringing him to the league, making him a key player in the squad, and winning the title in a once in a lifetime run. i thought i remember him saying he wanted to leave last year, but he agreed to stay for a year with a promise that he could leave this summer.

lets assume that alexis/ozil/lacazette is our front 3.

mahrez would then be an impact sub. £28m is a lot to pay for an impact sub, but how many times have we been crying for a goal in the 70th minute and we have no real attacking threat to bring on. and of course, there will still be plenty of games to go around.

despite being class he doesn't exactly fit. he's average as a LW and a 10, but very good as a RW

don't want square pegs in round holes all over again

---------Lacazette
Sanchez----------Mahrez

-----Lacazette
Ozil----------Mahrez

----------Lacazette

Ozil------------Mahrez

I don't see why any of those can't work.

Mahrez is a really good signing, be it 28m, 35m or 40m. We are desperately lacking a winger of his technical ability and trickery. You can't have enough of such players in your squad. Just ditch Campbell and Walcott to make space for him. When you consider how many minutes our fringe players like Theo had, Mahrez represent a huge upgrade.

Just look at these touches, we don't have someone of his finesse in the squad.

If you sign him and Sanchez stays, you can always go back to 4 4 2. Would be an awesome attack. I don't think you need more than Lacazette, Sanchez, Ozil, Mahrez to win the English league. Please show me a recent attack that is markedly better amongst English league winners.

Let's let Wenger do his things. If he brings in the realistic players he is linked with and keeps Sanchez, we should be okay. Our team will be better than Pool, Spurs and probably United on paper

assuming we keep everyone, only the 3rd formation is an option. we're not buying lacazette and mahrez only to park them on the bench

Ozil!

Also, I don't get why you're comparing Lacazette and Mahrez to Gourcuff and Trabelsi (whoever that is...) Klaus. That's a pretty strong reaction.

Dreamlord!!!! Wash your mouth with soap. Trabelsi (whoever that is)!??? Trabelsi is an Arse legend. The original houseboat. Father to Kalou and various others. Repent.

28m would be a joke. A real pisstake if we manage to get him for that. Seems like nonsense to me.

How can you not know Trabelsi ffs. Only player in history to have been signed 26 times by the same club

you forgot sebastien frey

#legend

I've decided that I'm fine with signing him even if it means a return to a 4231 or even a 4222.
We've been calling out for a genuine wide man for a decade = here he is.
28m is a no brainer.

Trabelsi made the squad in pes 4 also

Only problem is at least one of those last two guys won't be at Arsenal next season.
