On the season ticket thing, I've always thought it a strange thing to believe of the club, too, not as strange as the "we only bid because we knew we had no chance" line, but still a bit loopy.

On this occasion, the season ticket renewal deadline actually passed last week before any of these stories broke. So if they were worried that the 60,000 long waiting list wasn't enough security going into the new season then they truly have terrible timing.

Yep and it's so out of character. He dropped loads of bombshells on beinsports and some of it wasn't even picked up by english media.

Mainly joking but the idea that there is or will be some sort of paradigm shift in how we operate this summer is fantasy.

I do believe they leak false stories for ST renewal time (see John Cross every season) but I don't believe they put in real bids to drive renewals.

May be its fantasy but I do think this summer is different. For the first time there wasn't consensus on Wenger at the board room level. It may have come as a shock even to him. For the first time there were protests, away fans were vocal. I feel the pressure to produce results is definitely much more than before. Wenger knows he can't have the fans alienated at kick-off in August.

I don't think anything has really changed. I doubt we'll spend much more this summer than we did last summer. That still leaves us with plenty enough money to make a world record bid.

That all felt different during the season, talk of big changes, etc but yet here we are with another 2 year deal for Wenger and zero structural changes on how he operates. It'll take a lot to convince me there has been a sea change in how we go after transfers. The proof will be in who we sign and who we keep. I'd be very surprised if we are significantly stronger by the time the season starts though.

Wengers too defensive in the transfer market, always talking about limits, and opportunities, rather than setting the precedent, that's fine if you have just won the league and only need a few additions but not if you've just had an awful season.

If we can keep Sanchez and Ozil, I genuinely think that we are only 2-3 players away from being able to compete. The problem is Wenger never has more than 7 good months in a season, the remaining 3 are god-awful. I remember thinking in Dec before the Everton and ManC games that if we won both, we would be favourites for the title - we lost those 2 narrowly and then after a few games, began the horrible collapse.

By all accounts, he's a smart kid with his head screwed on that listens to his Dad. The same Dad that chose to dress him in an Arsenal shirt as a kid. Basically a done deal.

If I'm completely honest I don't really get why this guy gets this much praise and attention. I've probably seen too little of him but from what I did see, he's a great player but not some monster. All the comparisons to Henry but I don't even see the same poise or guile.

We're the best team for his current stage of progression and everything the kid has said, as well as folks like Deschamps, sounds like that's the most important factor for him, to get his next move right.

The question is does he feel like he can own a move to Madrid? I'd look at guys like James and question that but maybe he has more confidence in his own ability. City have Aguero and Jesus and the fact that they're even interested doesn't make much sense to me considering all the other issues they have. United would be the stupidest move of the lot for obvious reasons. Staying at Monaco is probably the safest move but looking at how they're being dismantled i can't see him wanting to stick around.

He looked the most dangerous player on pitch, in my opinion, in the ties with Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus. And he only turned 18 in December.

I agree he doesn't have Henry's grace but his agility and dribbling is more impressive than a young Henry and he definitely does have that same poise and composure in front of goal. He never rushes, it's very difficult for someone to learn that. And he does it against the best. I've also been very impressed by his appreciation of the time and space he has and the passing options around him. Like the great players, he seems to see everything.
