Incompetence happens everywhere at every level. We have a huge client at my work place who overpaid us by close to £100,000 last year and it's not a one off. On Suarez, there is plenty of evidence to verify what the actual issue was, from the PFA taking a look at the clause to various accounts of the incident from Suarez himself to John Henry who admitted they didn't honour the agreement and just bluffed their way through.
Could we have signed him if we just paid more? Maybe, maybe not. But our reluctance to pay premiums is a well known issue, it doesn't mean that we never actually intended to sign him.

Discussion is fine but it shouldn't be on the back of some idiot on a blog with his crackpot theories. I might as well start one claiming Arsenal are controlled by the Illuminati.
I'm aware of what Henry said back in the US regarding the clause, however it is just as likely to be beating his chest as if there was a genuine release clause it would seem to contradict the earlier reference to the PFA indicating that it was not a release clause.
I'd suggest that our reluctance to pay premiums tends to support the argument that we are NOT entirely genuine in our transfer bids. AW has admitted that he does not always say the entire truth, and IMO there is no better example than his incessant declarations of doing everything he can to succeed. IMO that statement is a prime example of him not telling the full truth, because there is always caveats attached where AW is concerned. Yes he may desire to succeed but he certainly does not leave no stone unturned when it comes to his values. Again this would support the view that our transfer dealings lack the determination to get the deal done.
I have no doubt that the desire was/is there but not the intent to see it done if it means stepping outside the comfort zone,
and it is for these same reasons that I do not believe the current 'pursuit' of Mbappe is anything more than posturing, and I have no doubt that at some point there will be some reference to us having made an offer in excess of the existing world record fee paid = it's pointless as it's still only talk unless it's accepted by the club, even if you still lose out to a better offer or package.Â
AW is very clever in that he obtains confirmation that the player is available and gains permission to hold talks with the player to agree terms before going back to discuss fee wit the club. Eve n if the deal falls through at club level he has already established a basis of discussion and agreement with the player that may be relevant at a later date, but none of which resolves anything now.
As for your illuminati theory = fill your boots.
