20 days later

Chelsea getting over 60m euros for someone who is clearly not wanted, only wants to go to a specific club, haven't trained for months and is overweight with the window closed. How the hell do they do that?

And there are some who think 55m is overpriced for Sanchez.

Wait, what? They're selling Costa to Atletico almost a month after the window has closed? How?

As far as I understand, the window is only for registering players. You can agree a transfer at any time

As I understand it you can buy and sell players whenever, you just can't register them to play. Basically meaning he'll just be training with Atletico until Jan, but that was always going to be the case regardless with their transfer ban.

Ah, alright. So he'll just train with them and not feature in any competitions for Atletico.

i wish there was someone who could run some analytics on Chelsea's players' footballing statistical outputs versus their sale price. my hypothesis is that their transfer values are inflated relative to other football clubs and that points to something systematically unusual happening with the club.

the optimistic would say they have an incredible transfer negotiator. the anti-Dick Law

Yep. Atletico have a transfer ban until January I think, so they couldn't have completed the deal this summer anyway.

Yeah it's extremely shady. 67m for him considering all the conditions involved is ridiculous. It's all these inflated sales thats making their net profit better than us over the years.

How is €67 million for Costa shady when Lukaku cost £90 million this summer?

Getting £20 million for Nathan Ake, that's shady business. Getting €67 million for Costa is daylight robbery by Atletico. He's probably worth twice as much in this market, and there would probably have been half a dozen clubs willing to pay it too if he wasn't a bonafide mental case.

He hasn't trained for months, and has gone MIA. He has declared he only wanted to join Atletico, so he don't care what bid Chelsea accepts he isn't going anywhere else. That gave all the advantages to Atleti. Guy is 29 as well compared to Lukaku who is 24 and has his best years ahead of him.

In normal scenario such a guy would see his price dropped terribly, yet Chelsea pretty much more than doubled their initial outlay on him.

Seems about right when compared to what other strikers are going for.

Tielemans said: "I knew not much was going to change with Arsenal’s squad."

“Their management wanted to keep the same group of players together in order to finish high in the Premier League.

“I had to be honest with myself and take a look at the midfielders Arsenal have got. They are top-class players.

"I knew that I would not get many first-team chances with them, so I didn't give any more thought to joining them.

"I never said no to any club. But I made it clear where I wanted to go."

Tielemans turned us down for Monaco like Lemar.

Top class players? He thought he wouldn't get in the team ahead of Xhaka and Elneny? 😆

I can't believe these players when I hear them. They're making shit up. They are being polite. They don't want to say how they really feel about our prospects. I think he meant to say "I would rather wait a year for a club with a more certain future"
