An hour and a half of Thee Oh Sees, two hours of Swans, two hours of GY!BE, and an hour and a half of My Bloody Valentine. Incredible festival day.

There's a lot of shit dub step out there and I'm not yet sure on the genre as a whole but if this counts, then I like it. Some beautiful, swirling, melodic, ambient harmonies.

Bit of sonic therapy for a below par week.

Nope, festival show so the staging was somewhat watered down. Just two adjacent projectors showing artificially aged stock film montages.

Yeah you should know Godspeed Don. One of the touchstones of postrock since the last 90s.

On the Sunday I caught the Drones, Beasts of Bourbon, Don Walker and Einstürzende Neubaten. A not quite but almost equally good day.

It worked.
Remember the first time I heard it, felt like an electric shock.

Talk Talk's album Laughing Stock is one of those must listen albums, it's a bit of a cliché but it's fucking good. Spirit of Eden too. Godspeed's earlier stuff is terrific. Stereolab's earlier albums like Mars Audiac Quintet, Emperor Tomato Ketchup, Peng!, Transient Random Noise Bursts With Announcements …

Mogwai are probably the most enjoyable postrock group I've seen live, probably because their songs are of a manageable length and they don't have too much quiet time. Their Perth show in 2009 was hypnotic.

I listen to a fair few practically unknown Australian postrock artists … Eleventh He Reaches London, Craig McElhinney, Hooper's Store, Raven, The Television Sky, but they're a bit creaky a lot of the time.

Just heard the Jesus Piece skit on the Game's album.

Made me lol.

Is it just me, or is what passes for hip hop these days a little bit too raw. Take for example this 2 chainz bloke. He's really good, but his music is a bit debased and vulgar for my taste.

Saw Richard Hawley at the Troxy on Saturday night. He was utterly brilliant.

And, I know I posted a link to the stream a couple of weeks back, but the new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds album really is fantastic.
