In fairness, I haven't had a chance to listen to Push The Sky Away yet, so it could be that it isn't great. But, having heard a couple of tracks, I doubt it.

And even if it wasn't up to much, it wouldn't change the fact that Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are a really great band.

Doesn't seem to be too many here that like metal or rougher rock if you will. There are a few opera lovers besides me here though!

Rex, what kind of metal do you listen to?

Quite a lot! I like a host of the classic bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Aerosmith, Guns and Roses, Metallica and so on, but I also listen to a lot less known bands like Danko Jones, Avenged Sevenfold, Alter Bridge, Evanescence and Shinedown. Then there are Swedish bands like Takida, In Flames, Plan 3 and Sabbaton that I quite like. My latest love is a band called Halestorm.

I don't JUST listen to metal though! As I said before I love opera and I listen to Simon and Garfunkel, Pink, Hootie and the Blowfish, Leonard Cohen, REM, U2 and the Cranberries on a regular basis too.

I don't "get" techno, house, pop, hiphop and R'n'B much though, which tends to dominate in here. Doesn't do it for me.

My second favourite metal band ever. :drool:

I have a pretty wide(ridiculously wide, even) range of music as well. Depending on the mood, I can listen to the heavy stuff(Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Killswitch Engage, plus the classics), whereas I often enjoy listening to smooth jazz, soul or blues. I also love drum & bass and some of dubstep and house, not too keen on techno and trance though. Every once in a while I listen to some hip-hop and classical music, but those are pretty rare occasions.

Actually, that's fair enough. I'm not much for those types of music, particularly R'n'B and hip hop, the majority of which I find deeeeeply annoying.

If you like Cohen, REM & U2, you should definitely check out The National. They're brilliant.

I used to love Guns N' Roses. Appetite For Destruction is a great album, not had much interest in them since Axl went nutso.

Why?

I find most of the music in here that is promoted is actually not hip hop, pop and r'n'b. I normally avoid this thread precisely because I don't relate to what people post. As it happens, I'm very selective in the type of hip hop I listen to and I by no means listen to only that.

Last two albums I bought were Alabama Shakes' Boys & Girls and Raphael Saadiq's stone rollin'.
