Saw Silver Alert (Jim Sclavunos from the Bad Seeds / Grinderman and his offsider) do an improvised score to a hacked-up version of Murnau's Faust at the local arts festival.

The gig consisted largely of improvised bowing of waterphones and cymbal smashing

over incredibly loud, distorted pedal-operated synth bass. Pretty insane. Murnau's Faust has some amazing shots as well, I was surprised I haven't heard more about it in the past. Oh and there were nude dancers.

Experientially I would say this is about as close as one can get to a 1980 Bauhaus gig nowadays. I'm sure some of the old school goths in the audience were messing their pants.
