Qwiss yeah, I'm looking at going to that now too - they're doing Ally Pally park here. Was supposed to be going with my mate Luke tonight, who has loved the band forever, but he's ill. So we've got the summer show as a back up plan, assuming tickets are still available in the new year!

RocktheCasbah dunno what its like over in London but gigs in Dublin for bands of our era aren't selling out nearly as much lately. Even Blur tickets were still available a couple of weeks before the gig last summer.

Qwiss tbh, I don't tend to wait so never really sure. That said, I know Blur's second Wembley date took a while to sell out, though I think it did in the end. And we were all over tickets for Massive Attack in Bristol next summer but that is still on sale a week later, which is surprising to me.

Not saying I had a great time at Suede or anything, but I've just booked tickets for their Ally Pally show with the Manics... 🤣

Nah they were really good, the gig was at a convention centre with a bunch of sixty year olds which really contributed to the feeling of Fritz Lang. They're very like German Expressionism actually, walking a line between comical, preposterous and profoundly poignant. The massive visuals really took you into that hole with them. I used to be a big fan of "Trans Europa Express" when I was about twenty, but that era of "Europe" feels simultaneously sinister and nostalgic now.

Daz I was saying to my missus yesterday, quite glad it's next week and not this, otherwise I'd have been listening to James going on about it all day tomorrow... 😃

Although, I have read good things about it so I am also keen to have a listen.

My kids got me tickets to see Ben Howard for my birthday which I'm also quite excited about.

Ended up in a bit of a state last night, watching a vocal analysis of this song. Thirty years old now (howwwwwww?), but for a while there, The Cranberries were my favourite band on the planet. I still miss Dolores.

Incidentally, 90s music aficionados (I think there's a few of us here, right?) might enjoy this podcast, the host is very entertaining.

Daz It really does - I remember the hours spent in the 6th form common room listening to it. That, and the Pulp Fiction soundtrack as well as Parklife...

It's funny though, I think it became their calling card in such a way that you forget it was never really representative of the way they presented their music. Hearing it in 1994 after their first album really was a "Wait a minute!" moment.

Steve Wright has died. Not sure how much he'd mean to anyone else, but I used to love listening to his Radio One show when I got home from school, gutted.
